⚠️ HWY 209 to Hot Springs is blocked avoid the area!! Spring Creek buses are detouring through Sandy Mush & will be delayed. ⚠️
For those that have never been to our Maggie Valley event; 209 The Rattler is our first ride.
Wow! Quite the predicament!
I don't understand why they don't have some kind of arch that is low enough to block trucks from going across that road. they could have it at the top and bottom of the road so that they can turn around. Another option would be large flashing signs that forbid trucks from entering.
just doesn't make sense to continue to allow them access.
That's crazy, evidently that person has to be a new driver on that route.

There is a big sign before you get to Fergusons store.
Signs mean nothing to today's driver's they are taught to follow the GPS routing. These new driver's are oblivious to signs and warnings! seen it a thousand times when I was on the job. Sad to say but true.Fred

Have seen this on the Tail. Talked to a driver at Dills Gap, who showed me his map of the area roads. It basically showed the Tail of the Dragon as a straight shot. His tractor/trailer rig was caught in somewhat the same situation as the Dollar General rig. They were having to split the consist, seperate the tractor from the trailer and tow each out seperately. $40,000.00 to complete the job.
A new driver to the area sees a cheap road map with a straight line, he thinks short cut. A very expensive one.
This is just another reason you have to be very careful riding the tail....round a corner at 60mph and this is in front of you.
