Wounded Warriors????

Hey, I became very disappointed in the WW group as I found out that of the millions of dollars given to our men and women, who have given so much for this great country, only 10% actually goes to the helping of those in real need.

I find this troubling as millions of dollars are being pocketed instead of going to the cause many think they're helping. Another sham someone has come up with knowing they'll get millions from well wishing and generous people who love our country and want our men and women taken care of or at least helped our of the pits our country has put them in.

Just my .02!!

May GOD bless our brothers and sisters who are and did serve this GREAT COUNTRY.

That’s nothing new, it’s the same for the Girl Scout troops. Most of the cookie sales profits goes towards the corporate level. The troops themselves don’t get squat

Yep...thru the years I have found this same situation in several of what I thought were do-gooder organizations.

Not Defending WW ... but ... I think there may be some misunderstanding of what they do, at least as I understand it from their literature.

They do not give the money you donate to wounded worriers. As understand it, when an armed forces personal gets wounded, it takes the government and all the red tape to get benefits to them. What the wounded warriors does is supply those benefits until such tie as the benefits kick in. The way I understand it, the warrior will then pay those back to the WW .. like a 0% interest loan. What your donation does is allow them to do this for more warriors.

There is also some programs that actually give away things the warrior actually needs that his benefits won't provide. That might be where the 10% number comes from.

Having said that, I haven't found out what happens to all the money donated, if and when we quit having wounded warriors????

Big Disclaimer: I have no connection with any charitable organization, I do not donate $$$, except, I give $5 a week to my Bible Study group ... I do however donate service (my time) to things and people who need it. For example, the church associated with my Bible study knew of an elderly woman that needed help with her leaf raking. Three or four of us volunteered to rake her yard and trim her bushes.

Wow ... I'm out of touch ... The WW has become huge ... went to their web site and what used to be their mission of helping you apply for your benefits and supplying funds until benefits get approved ... has become help you file for them only.

They also have like 20 other "functions".

They have joined forces with the Red Cross and other groups including a sing therapy group from California ... and I've heard some abuse from that group Red Cross).

So I checked charity navigator ... after their first year 2009-10, 2 stars out of 4, they've been 3 stars and once 4 stars. All ratings over 80% and some as high as 97%.

I don't know if that is good or bad in the big scheme, was just a tad surprised they got so big

They have cleaned up their act somewhat the past few years.
