    Continuing On....

I decided to go with a foot clutch and hand shift. This fab project is next after the fenders, but here is the concept....

The tank is a stretch flatside softail tank with a total (L and R Side) capacity of about 6 gallons

I am adding a smooth side shifter gate from a 36 Knucklehead and a standard repro hand shifter

    Name: Tank 1.jpg
Views: 211
Size: 158.8 KB

On the right hand side, I am adding a modified shifter gate used on Big Twins sent to the UK (They had the hand shifter on the right... they had opposite side controls just like UK cars)

    Why?

It is connected to a small Wilwood E-Brake caliper and serves as my parking brake

Lighting has been a fun effort.

Like I said earlier, I am not really building Zero trike anymore, rather it is more a competition version of a Harley Servicar tribute bike. I started calling it a "Brooklands" Servicar after the racetrack in the UK. It ran a lot of classic bike races and just kinda seemed to fit

So I have been collecting a lot of old stuff and restoring it.

Here are the Left and Right tail lights (they fit into the shrouds you saw on the rear fenders) and are wired for LEDs

The Head Light is an original Rolls Royce 8" Center Light from the late 30's . It is also rewired for an LED lamp

The spots and turn signals are Lucas side lights (like US cowl lights) and indicator lights the 1930's Austins, Jags, etc.

They will all get arranged on a Headwinds Springer light bar something like this

Here is the concept for the body. After fenders and tanks, it will be next.

Saddle, "Hardly Davidson" footboards, and foot controls are in work as well. I will post pictures of them later this week

Thanks! They evolved from a number of concepts. They will ride with the wheel/tire front and rear so I don't have the "dirt bike" look

I got all the parts puled together for a 1937 "Skull" dash instrument panel as well. Believe it or not, the original 2000 FXSTS Speedo fits perfectly into the dash. I could not believe the MoCo left some dimension out of their engineered obsolescence program (Don't tell them though...they will change it)

I have the mechanical oil gauge and an ammeter shown on the Knuck ready to go. Ties into the whole pre-war theme

BTW... Kudos to Cimerron Cycles and Oldtimerpartsweb. They have the BEST European made reproduction parts for pre-1950 Harley's. Great quality and perfect replicas.

I also got some 3D Printed inserts for a pair of 1914-25 Footboards with the "Hardly Davidson" graphic from the tank decal (below is the concept I sent to the 3D printer guy...still waiting for them to come back) and a reproduction set of footboard extensions for the period to give the the leg room I have on the Freewheeler Chopper

The saddle is in work too (See Mr. Twister was not foolin you)

The one on the left was the saddle I started with, the one in the middle is the style and color of the recover, the one on the right shows the back rest the saddle maker is building into it.

So to sum up where I am... Engine built...LOTS of freakin parts fab'd, being fab'd, bought, restored, and collected... lots more to get. When it is my turn in the frame jig, things will literally start coming together at a better pace. I do not foresee riding this bike in 2022 unless a miracle happens though. All materials, parts, and providers are still suffering from supply chain shortages that everyone is seeing. But that is ok... I ride the Free Chopper (has about 6k miles on it now) and am still moving forward on the build of the Brooklands... its all good

I fab'd a pair of replicas of the OEM Knuckle Brake Pedal. One left for the clutch, One right for the brake. You can see the rather used and abused OEM part I used as a pattern here.

I left a lot of extra room at the bottom to marry it to a pair of Twisted Choppers forward controls.

The fenders are progressing.... about 3/4 there. The tail will hinge (like the hardtail knucks and pans) at the edge sitting on the chair. They will have about a 270 degree wrap around the rear tires

I came across a couple of Lunkenheimer No. 8 Hit/Miss Engine oilers on eBay a few weeks ago

I thought they would make a cool oil tank. So I bought them and started playing around with them. I have to replace the cork seals with Viton rings, and make a manifold for the inbound and outbound oil flow... But it is very doable. I played around with AN fittings (you will see that in the photos) but did not like the look. I will bend up some stainless hard lines and clean it up. I am also replacing the original (unknown) glass and inserting hi-temp pyrex tubing with a 0.375" thick wall. One thing for sure.... I won't have to work too hard to see how much oil I have . Will likely eliminate the site glasses at the bottom as they will just collect "stuff". I am just using them to attach the oiler bases to the lower mounting bracket and there is enough metal in them to cut them off and cap them. Anyway, thought it would be a bit unique....
