Sequoia NP to Las Vegas

Sitting here with 20 inches of snow on the ground, thinking about a trip im planning for next May-Jul. The stretch from Sequoia NP to Vegas has me wondering, north across Death Valley then drop down to Vegas or drop down to I 40 across to Vegas. Wondering what others have done?

Either way is gonna be HOT in June/July.

We took the route below in July.



It was 113* as we rode thru Vegas-

Amen to Hot in June/July ... More like May to September.

I was in Vegas for a few hours on the trike last May ... 100+ degrees. Decided to Hi tail it back to Mesquite ... only 95+ there ...

Death Valley?? In the summer?? I lived in Vegas for over 20 years. I've been to Valley a few times and up 95 to Reno many, many times. I would shoot straight over to Tonopah and then take 95 down to Vegas. Much better scenery, more watering holes and way, way less heat. At any rate, have a great trip and enjoy those old Nevada ghost towns.

If I went that route I would hit it early in the morning. It's just my personal experience and my personal opinion, but as soon as that sun comes up over the eastern horizon the temps start to rise fast. That Death Valley route will be a bit slower, but I guess Death Valley is one of those checklist items. Bring lots of water.
