Texas vs Colorado

I am in shock ... we had a higher temps here in Grand Junction, yesterday than lots of Texas ... must be Climate change ...

There's places in Texas that often get really really cold when that cold air comes blasting down from Canada. Far SE Colorado ain't too far from North Texas.

Here in the Texas hill country this morning, per NOAA, we had an official 16* at 7:15am and 7:35am.

I spoke to the cold air about that... it told me, “sorry ‘bout that...I got turned around - I thought I was in Colorado”...

Lest we forget, at one time, S E CO was a part of the Republic of TX

And, between taxes and N central CO turning blue, the rest of the state still wishes it was a part of TX.

Welp ... In the far Western area ... 14 miles from Utah ... we don't care what state we are ... as long as the wacky college crowd stays away ... does Austin still have the Moto, "Keep Austin Weird"? Denver has a bunch of those wackos too ...

Keep Austin Weird ? You bet ! OTOH, you've got a bunch of wackos there in your neck of the woods too. CMU is right up there with UTA.

Yea ... CMU has some wackos ... but ... we got enough wide open spaces that I hardly ever see them ... There's only about 11k total students here ... so total about 10% of the population ... the rest of the population is ranchers, farmers and oil field workers ... LOL ... they tend to be wacky enough to "drown out" the other wackos.

We did have one protest in about 30 years I've lived here. Bunch of the college kids decided to protest fossil fuel use ... LOL ... didn't go so well ... they got back in their daddy's SUV's and went back on campus.

Grand Junction is a lot like my ex wife's home town of Granbury, Tx. (yep ... I married a Texan, but, not all my exes are from Texas ... ). Small ... sleepy ... and for the most part pretty boring. We used to get news reports about Meth use and drug busts ... but ... not so much anymore. Not sure if it is under control or the Police just gave up and leave it alone. Maybe the legal Mary Jane took it's place ... but ... even for that you need to drive out of the county.

There are wackos all over the world ... and good folks too ... There's a reason I'm looking forward to Kerrville ... I like Texas ... I like Texans ... heck ... I even like my ex wife, God rest her soul. And most of all ... I like Texas BBQ ... LOL.

I am a CO expat. Youngest, her hubby and the granddaughter still reside in Telluride. Growing up in Aspen was fun way back when ...... Too many snowflakes (no pun intended) in residence now.

Pretty sure that's the one we went to last time I was in Kerrville ... WOW ... my lunch was like $25 (yea ... got carried away and ate it for 2 days) ... great food. It all looked sooooo good in the "pit" and so small ... LOL ... Planning on going in April ... God Willing ... and if I'm there 4 days ... looking forward to 8 visits for BBQ ...
