Welcome aboard Trike Talk. When I was in the market for a Trike, I wanted a HD Tri-glide but wanted to see what the Honda conversion was like also. My wife and I took a rode trip from (home) Pensacola, Fl. to Russellville, Ak. to the Honda dealer there. They had over 20 conversions on the showroom floor and told us we could ride as many as we liked, no problem. Great experience having all these comparisons at your call. Ultimately went back home and bought a 2015 Tri and have loved choice with no regrets. That CVO is a beautiful machine. Enjoy your new ride whatever it may be.

And know that your trike is wider than the 2 wheeler when you pull up to that gas pump. Don't let the change slow you down. I have only heard of a few that did not get the hang of it.

    GOOD LUCK RIDE SAFE
    Great advice.

I will be taking a trike course and I will find a large vacant parking lot to practice my new skills or lack thereof!

Jon...I am one of those people who had NO problem adjusting from 2 to 3 wheels. I had driven several 2 wheelers since 1978 when husband and I bought HIS trike in 2011 - the first in the family. So, we get to the seller’s home, give him the check, husband announces he isn’t riding it home....130 miles = 2 hours. WHAT???!!!! ARE YOU KIDDING ME???? THIS IS YOUR TRIKE!!! Wasn’t anything to do but for me to hop on the trike and head home. I had never driven a trike but had voraciously read and asked newby questions out here on TrikeTalk so I kindof knew what to watch for. The seller had no words of wisdom for me - he hated it - it only had 1217 miles on it. By the time we were 1/2-way I realized that I was in love with this machine (Gold Wing). Well, hubby did ride it after we got it home and I bought myself another one making us a 2-trike household....sold the 2-wheel cruisers ASAP and haven’t looked back.
New course heading Mr. Sulu: ...2nd star to the right and straight on til morning...!!

Jon welcome to trike talk, best trike forum out there IMO.If you can afford it by all means do it,as we get to that point in our lives when we can no longer ride and we are on the side lines, the last thing you want to say is..... I wish i would have. Best of luck with your decision.

White bikes (and trikes) rule . My Low Rider was white (Bonneville Salt Pearl in HarleySpeak) and my Freewheeler is the same color.

If you can swing a CVO by all means go for it rather than later have regrets that you didn't. After 2020 there's the possibility that HD won't do a CVO trike, they change what gets the CVO treatment from year to year. From the sound of it you've got a good dealer that will do you right.

It took me close to 500 miles to feel at ease on 3 wheels vs. 2. The big thing for me was getting used to riding in the center of a lane rather than off to one side. I got used to "steering" rather than leaning pretty fast. Also as others have said always remember your back end is wide, pun intended. Unlike those that can easily switch between 2 and 3 wheels, my 2 wheel days are over, I totally would not feel at ease on a bike anymore, it's a "put the feet down on 2 wheels" thing.

I haven't been here long either, welcome to the forum Jon!

    Jeff,

    Thanks for your comments.

So the CVO trike could be a "one off deal" for this year, now that would be interesting. It may be a possibility that the value may be held at a constant instead of the normal depreciation.

The dealer that I am using has been more than helpful and upfront as I am not paying the advertised "sticker price". I was polite (with a smile on my face) and advised the salesperson that "my offer" is $xx amount so if you can deal with me, then let's move forward.

Tomorrow I am going back to the dealer to ask some more questions, then I will make my decision between 2 model year HD TG's.

    Ride safe.

You never know on the CVO thing. 2020 is the first year they did a CVO trike. They could do it again next year and then they couldn't. We just won't know until August when the 2021's are announced. I do know that over the years a CVO bike may be introduced and with the next model year it's gone.

As far as value / depreciation, not being a CVO guy I don't know. Perhaps others could chime in. Unlike the crazy days of the 80's thru the early 2000's the rule of thumb now on non-CVO Harley's is don't get them with the idea of making money on 'em come sale time.

Please keep us posted on your visit with the dealer tomorrow!

Jon, I’ve had my 18 Tri glide for 2 years now, before we bought it my wife had a 16 heritage softail and I had a 16 ultra limited, after some friends of ours bought trikes I told my wife maybe we should look. Went to the dealer and test drove a 18 115th anniversary Tri glide and decided to buy it, took both 2 wheelers and traded them in and brought the trike home, have no interest in going back to 2 wheels, I’ll ride a trike for as long as I can. Good luck at the dealer tomorrow, they wanted to charge me above list and I told them I wasn’t doing that and we settled a little below, but they did try to stick it to me.

Sure appreciate the advice and I will uphold the support of the forum members and "stand my ground".

For obvious reasons I have been careful what I have posted here relating to the price and dealer "numbers".

So far I seem to be on a level playing field and that's the way I would like to keep it.

Perhaps I am lucky (or not) but I do have some knowledge of sales as I had to take a sales job for a while when I was let go several years ago.

My impression is that the dealer knows I will not be pushed around and I can always walk away.

For example; Yesterday I got a phone call from one of the sales people advising me that the General Manager wanted me to know that I couldn't place a deposit on the CVO trike. My answer to that was "it will be there tomorrow, so I will take my chance" ha!

We shall see and I am optimistic of a good result in the morning.

Appreciate all of the responses thus far.

    Ride safe folks.

    Jon.

Only one earthly visit with no encore, you are so correct about life.

Default 2020 Tahitian Teal TG Ultra

    So, the deed is done.

I am proud to announce the ownership of a 2020 Tahitian Teal TG Ultra.

As you have probably read, my interest was in a 2020 CVO TG (white) but the 2020 Tahitian Teal TG Ultra was hard to pass up on due to the color.

Some of you had written "make it your own" and that is what I have done:

    1) Heated seats and grips

    2) Adjustable levers

    3) Light inside tour pack lid

    4) Highway pegs

    5) Folding back rest

    6) Rear frame height adjusting kit

    7) Front painted inner fairing near the instruments

    8) Clear paint protection around wheel trims etc

    9) TPMS

Dealer is going to order the parts and I am going to get a riders trike course.

    Very happy and blessed.

    Ride safe,

    Jon.

Even the ducks weren't flying today!

Tried to upload a picture but it didn't display perhaps it was too big.

As I ride year round, it was important to have the air intakes somewhat protected vs the CVO which has the M8 air filters.

The color is even better under sunlight kelvin temperature as the dealer had a light that mimics this color temperature and it showed the eye catching color.
