Yesterday I received my summons to once again serve on a Jury ... it is truly a honor to serve ... a pain in the b$tt, but a honor ... I seem to get called like every 18 months. Last two, I was voted Jury foreman. I get to report January 27th ... until ???? Last one was a 5 day trial. Grand Junctions version of a drug kingpin ... LOL

I served 3 1/2 Days on a jury .......Then the guilty defendant coped a plea...

Total waste of my and my fellow jurist's time.....Between public defenders that wouldn't even share a cup of coffee or associate with most of the people they lie for, To the Judges who have no concept of time, But demand that the jurist be on time ...AKA...Hurry up and wait..

So, the system worked ... the guilty was brought to justice ... the three and a half days of trial convinced the guilty that he was gonna be convicted ... so he saved the "state", time and money, also saved you from having to make the decision ... ... win win

On my jury, the defendant wasn't as kind, we had to convict him.

I have reported for jury duty several times. I have never been selected. The first one was a child rapist. On the questionair form I wrote "He should have a creosote pole stuck up his a$$ if he is found guilty."

I thought it best to be honest.

I am soured on jury duty. I have been called up 4 times. I did my duty by showing up, the court system failed me. Because I ride a motorcycle I had to pay for parking each time. This ended up costing me not only my time but the parking fees. I never did get paid for jury duty or reimbursement for parking. The judge said it was my duty to serve. How is this fair is what I want to know. I will not ever serve again

Only got on one jury.... hit and run....we convicted him. All other calls to jury ended in not picking me for the jury. It IS a waste of time to have to go back daily and sit around for 3 or 4 days....especially when you have a job that highly depends on you being at the job, then you have to play catch up like mad when you return.

To add...I’m not saying that it is not a “just” system, I am saying that they need to find a more expeditious way of picking the jury. I don’t know what that would be.

I have been called many times and have sat on three trials. First was a worker comp. fraud case, and he copped a plea deal, 3 days. Second was a assault with a deadly weapon, deadly weapon was the small end of a two piece pool cue. Convicted 1 week. Third was a civil case. Family suing the school district over a football injury, cracked vertebra in the players neck. Verdict in favor of School District. lasted 42 days. Don't have to worry anymore, over 70 no more jury duty.

When the judge asked me what bumper stickers i had on my Vehicles ....

I told him 3.....NRA Sticker.....Watch out for Motorcycles...... Kennedy killed more people with his car than i with my gun....And i still was on a jury.......

That was quite a few years ago....And i actually did have the Kennedy sticker...
