    Default Rear suspension

    I purchased a 2010 tri glide ultra classic in the spring of 2019 , I didn't put to many miles on it but it seemed it was beating the hell out of me and the wife. So I've been looking into upgrading the rear suspension, I see lift kits and 13 and 14 inch shocks, I'm a little overwhelmed, I am 6'1" , 280 lbs, the wife is around 160 lbs, I ride solo about 70 % of the time, kind of leaning towards Legends , any advice would be appreciated.

    Mark....Welcome to Trike-Talk............I had a 2011----And a 2017...Tri-Glide, And the ride was hard much harder than my 2 Wheelers .. With the 11 i put on a lift kit and lowered the psi in the rear tires down to 25 psi and the shocks while never finding a sweet spot a set the psi at 35/40 psi...With The 17 i just did the PSI's no lift kit....

    With 3 wheels you'll find there aren't many pot holes you can go around...Same with sunken manhole covers..It is what it is......

    Welcome to Trike Talk. There is no doubt that the original HD shocks are not very good. Many new options have become available over the last few years. If you do a search for shock related post in this forum, you will find tons of info.

    A LOT of people in this forum have installed coil over performance shocks from several different companies along with rear "comfort lifts" and have really improved their rides...... with one up riding and 2 up. DK Custom Products HTTP://www.dkcustomproducts.com is a sponsor on this board and he offers several packages custom fitted for your particular weight and riding styles. He has a bunch of videos on You Tube and on their web site.

    The link below shows you how the pro action shocks he sells operate on his 2014 TGU. As I said, there are many threads and post about better shocks for the Tri Glides.

    16 TGU Mysterious Red / Velocity Red. FM Ceramic Head pipe and FM E-Series tunable exhaust. PV Target Tune-AT WB Tuner. DK Outlaw 606 AC with EBS, Ward’s FCS fans. DK Custom Oil filter/Cooler relocation kit, Comfort Lift and 14 inch shocks. DK tank lift, wind deflectors, floorboard extenders, and tour pak relocator. Chrome TGU wheels. Bad Ass Lights tail lights. Lighted controls and Krome Works 2+2 narrow handle bars.

    Lol , I love that video. The DK kit , the 14" is the one I was originally settled on , just waiting for the wife to get up off my allowance. Didn't quite understand the benefits of a lift kit. Thanks for the welcome.

    Glad you liked it. Also, the lift kit makes the steering effort a little easier. Many people that can't swing the shocks install the rear lift. You can always add the shocks later. If you go that route just make sure you get a lift that will also work with the shocks when you can get your wife off those MONEY BAGS.

    Dk can help you with which lift to get. I "assume" you can get a lift that will work with the stock shocks and later with the pro action shocks........but he will know for sure.

    I also had the same ride problem. Adding a lift kit and shocks made a world of difference for my gal & I !

    We highly recommend doing it. Harley shocks are horrible.

    Check the "Classified" here. I have the suspension & lift kit from my Trike that is being traded
    2020 TriGlide Tahitian Teal aka (Hawaiian Hussy). Avon frt & Comfortred rear tires. ProAction frt & rear susp. RZ seat. DK floorboard extension & rear axle retainer kit with EBS, HD pull -back bars. Custom Dynamics front turn signals & Vent grill. All ,HD "Edge Cut " accessories.

    Welcome aboard, Mark! I have the DK 14" kit on mine and it helps a lot, well worth the cost. I also dropped the rear tire pressure to 23# for most of my riding, even two up. I bump it up to 25# when two up and loaded for a trip.

    I put Legends on my 2012 Triglide. Don't waste your money on these. No improvement what so ever. If I do it over I'd go with the DK units.

    Will these shocks work on a Honda Goldwing as well?? Cause I'm also not getting the smoothest ride either, and was hoping for a smooth as glass ride??

    I put the DK lift kit and 14" shocks on my '11 Tri Glide last year. I just recently traded for a '20 model and had the shocks & lift kit moved over to the new one. They really help to improve to ride.
