Hi everyone just joined the forum and have a question. Has anyone installed the trike mid step and if you have do you like it and use it? Also was it hard to install under the trike? Thanks in advance.

i have been thinking about getting one also kinda leaning towards the factory floorboards

I think the mid-step is a great aid IF you can lift your leg high enough AND bend your knee enough to clear the seat. I tried it on Kevin’s TG and my knee just won’t bend enough to clear the seat.
When I heard about the mid step I liked the concept of it, but when I looked at the price, sorry to high priced and then you still have to buy the boards to put on the mid step and that puts it even higher. I will keep using my stock floor boards getting on the trike.

This was one of the first things I bought for my Tri Glide. Couldn't be happier.
Mounting is easy as it's just 4 muffler clamps onto the frame. Also one person can do it , but two would be easier.
I don't understand why Harley doesn't sell these, they are that good.
Thanks everyone for replying especially Consitter for the video. My wife had a stroke so she is handicap but still wants to ride. We use a folding step stool on the ground now to help her get upon trike. Seen this and thought maybe we could get rid of the stool. Also looks like it might easier for me to get on. Thanks again
Welcome aboard, Mike. Enjoy the ride!
It is what it is.

Welcome to the forum Mike. I think you will enjoy it and lots of people in here to give advise and share wisdom. I am between 5'8" and 5'9" but my legs are short. I wear 29 inch length pants. My knees are getting bad but not ready for surgery. I stand beside my trike on the left side facing forward, then I lean to my left, kick my right leg up and over the seat and sit down.
However, I would love to get a mid-step if I knew it would still work with my J&S trike air lift jack. I have the newer model that goes in from the left side. Anyway, I keep hoping somebody that has a mid step installed and uses this jack will confirm it will work. It looks like it would and my DK oil filter/cooler relocation kit is not a problem because nothing hangs below the frame rails.
16 TGU Mysterious Red / Velocity Red. FM Ceramic Head pipe and FM E-Series tunable exhaust. PV Target Tune-AT WB Tuner. DK Outlaw 606 AC with EBS, Ward’s FCS fans. DK Custom Oil filter/Cooler relocation kit, Comfort Lift and 14 inch shocks. DK tank lift, wind deflectors, floorboard extenders, and tour pak relocator. Chrome TGU wheels. Bad Ass Lights tail lights. Lighted controls and Krome Works 2+2 narrow handle bars.
I have one. When I first got it I did not think I would like it that much. I really did not like how much it blocked the visuals of my 2-1-2 Power Dual Exhaust.
But after using it, I have no interest in having a Tri Glide without the Trike Mid-Step.
It makes it so much easier to mount and dismount, especially if Mary is already on the Trike.
I had it on my '14 and now it is on my '19-

Attention MDF48:
I also have a non air lift J and S jack that goes in from the left and it works fine with the mid-step.
I can't see you having any problems.
I have the mid-step on my '15 TG and I can still use my J&S jack, no problem. However, it is the original style that goes in from the right side.
My wife especially loves the mid-step as it makes it much easier for her to get on and off. I really like it too, it is easier to get on and off compared to trying to throw your leg over the seat. I'm 5'9" and seem to be getting shorter every year, was 5'10" at one time long ago! Plus I can use it to easily stand upright on it at traffic lights to take a little pressure off my butt for a bit.
I forgot to post in my other thread on here that if you have a J & S jack it might not work, glad to see a few people post that it will work. Still not getting one and I ride by myself so I keep using the stock floorboards to get on.

I've learned to get on and off just like mounting and mounting a horse. From left side getting on, I use my left foot board as a stirrup. Getting off takes a little more work. I pull up on the handle bars to stand on both my foot boards and get off like I am dismounting a horse. Not as gracefully as my younger riding buddies but easiest way I have found.
