    Default Any of your HD Dealers Offering This?

    I have a local HD Dealership offering that if you buy any 2020 touring bike/trike, they will convert the motor to the 131 cu. in. Screaming Eagle at N/C. It also states that you will still have the full factory warranty on the 131 motor.

    Sounds kinda tempting, especially if you were considering a purchase and were on the fence.

    What do you all think?

    For someone with their financial "ducks in a row", this sounds like a good offer.

    Better jump on that soon, as its doubtful it'll be around in May~June though...
    Isn't it weird that in AMERICA, our flag and our culture offend so many people...but our benefits don't???

    I'm happy with my 2017...I was just curious what everyone thought.

    They said the offer was till the end of January.

    If you read the fine print.. It does not include the labor nor the additional parts needed, exhaust (requires a whole new exhaust system, the kit includes the header only) AC, Tuner, and more.... And on top if it, the MOCO never shows these kits as a Trike component, so I doubt even if it fits will a dealership do it and have it covered under warranty

    That is more than double the first OHV engine from Harley, I bet it will be a hot running engine

    We're witnessing a return to the displacement wars between Indian & Harley from days of yore'...

    Wonder when the biggest engine on 2 wheels will happen, and what it'll be???
    Isn't it weird that in AMERICA, our flag and our culture offend so many people...but our benefits don't???

    I got a text from my local dealer this morning that said

    January PROMO

    110% retail for trade in and a FREE 131ci Screaming Eagle Performance Kit with the purchase of a New Touring Motorcycle, FREE Atlantic City trip with any New 2020 Motorcycle.

    I drove by there today, but had the intestinal fortitude to keep on going. Mine is paid off.

    Now that might just entice me to trade the FBG .

    My dealer ran something similar a few years back, but, opposite, they sprung for the labor and you bought the parts. I asked the owner how he could afford that? He basically was trying to keep his techs.

    Around here, the junior techs get seasonally laid off. the laided off techs get unemployment that almost equals their base pay. Most of the junior techs end up moving to climates or dealers that work all year round. The owner has no problem hiring new techs in the spring as they come out of Wyotech regularly and most dealers keep their techs, except this cheap sun of a gun, so there are always lots of "Green" techs looking for work.

    Anyway, he was trying to sell more rides, increase parts revenue so he could keep his techs busy. The only problem he ran into, was most of the junior techs needed help for that kind of service and were messing up pretty bad. The rework and replacement parts ate up his profits he planned to use to pay the techs.

    The other issue was his customers got really upset at the down time. Imagine buying a new ride like this time of year, knowing they were gonna "boost" the House Power, waiting until like early March, only to find out your new ride was messed up by a junior tech and was now being "fixed" by one of the two senior techs they had on staff, but, that there were a few bikes ahead of yours ... ... you'd be okay until the snow melted and temps rose to 60*. Not a lot of happy campers during that period. He only tried it the one year.

    That's is why I only have them do anything in the winter. Several Reasons:

    A) There are huge discounts on labor rates in the winter.

    B) Only he senior techs are still there, they budget their money so they can survive the winter.

    C) It's the only time of year when you make an appointment, it gets done when it's supposed to, no worries about someone traveling and needing service "bumping" the local.

    D) The magic Garage is too chilly in the winter for me to do it ... especially the older I get.

    I get it, If I was broken down, on a trip, I'd want to get fixed ASAP and back on the road. I just hate it when people play the system. For example, they start a 3k mile trip knowing they need a 5k service in 400 miles, plan to stop in Grand Junction and sweet talk the service writer in to doing it, bumping me, so he "Doesn't Violate" the maintenance schedule.

    Or, the same guy starts his trip knowing in 300-500 miles he'll need a new rear tire, but doesn't change it before he leaves, trying to get the extra 500 miles out of the tire.

    What really frosts my chops, is those guys are usually the ones that buy new CVO's every year, in other words, could afford to get 500 miles less on their tire or do the 5k 400 miles early. Most of these guys rent a hotel room, get drunk at the local bars and get back on the road the next day. I guess that's good for our economy.

    One summer I got bumped three times, after they took my ride in for a radio warrantee replacement on my 07 Ultra. After the third day being bump for "travelers", I told them to get my bike up front, I was gonna take it elsewhere. It was done the next day, by noon. I'm flexible, just not easy ... well, maybe a little easy ... I was married three times

    Biggest question for me would be the exhaust. With the bigger inches I would imagine the head pipe is larger, but is the collector a different size as well as the crossover pipe. Often wonder if getting a bigger intermediate pipe with a better bend would help performance.

    Lay that kit on me and I'll install it myself.Dont expect that motor to last much past 50k tho. Problem with the 45 degree v twin is it wants to literally beat itself to death.
