2004 GL1800

I have a 2004 GL1800 with a Motortrike kit with splash guards. How can I jack this beast up with out harming the bike or trike? Pics are worth a 1000 words! Any help wound be greatly appreciated.

I use a piece of 3/4 plywood near a foot square positioned under the front of the engine to jack using a floor jack. Plywood spreads the load. Mine is a 1500.

Buddy was loading his 1500 trike on a trailer by riding up on ramps, engine hit frame of trailer, cracked aluminum. That was like hitting it with a hammer.

VTX owner here, but this may work-

I use a transmission jack with a block of wood on it. The wide base makes it a LOT more stable than the floor jack. Didnt buy it for the trike, had it already.

Especially when I tried to raise the rear high enough to put in jackstands - my offset diffy makes it hard to find a good balance point with a floor jack. I lift on the tube framing of the kit now, with a wood spacer. Not sure if your kit permits that. If not...

If you are just trying to get it in the air a bit, RV leveling blocks worked great for me. If you want to remove the rear tires, I would put the bike up on the blocks, then use a floor jack to lift it slightly one side at a time and put in jackstands. Took more time, but a good alternative if you only have a floorjack. Trying to lift it high enough balanced on the jack without the blocks was scary. The 'RV blocks' could just be wood scraps, we have a camper so I had them around.



I was removing the driveshaft, so I needed the tires off the ramps. You can see the right ramp is loose, pushed forward.

For raising the front, I use a similar method to Crystal Pistol. This gets all 3 in the air.
