Default CSC PowerTrak front Rake Kit $895.00 - What Does that Include?

Going to get a CSC trike kit put on my GL1800 Gold Wing this spring.

I see in their online price/option sheet that the PowerTrak rake kit is $895.00! Wow!

Just what does that include? Are they only replacing the triple tree to provide the required rake angle and using your existing front forks. Or, are they giving you brand new front forks/suspension as well?

    Thanks for any advice.

    More than the triple trees:

Power Trak 1800TM = Ultimate Performance

    • 4.5° with 2.1" of trail reduction
    • Triple clamps cast and machined from A204-T4 aerospace quality aluminum
    • Steering stem is completely CNC machined from gun-drilled 1045 TG&P steel
    • Upper and lower tapered roller bearings and seals, exceeding OEM quality specifications

    • You use your forks but, you should get extensions so you can level the trike.

    Just $895?

    I paid $800 …

    .

16 years ago, the 1500 PowerTrak included new triple trees, stem, bearings, and longer fork tubes. The 1500 EZ-Steer included new triple trees, stem, bearings, and extensions that reused OEM forks which was a plus in my mind, just let you drop them down a couple inches to regain lost height (I see that now the PowerTrak reuses OEM fork tubes with extensions too). Prices were near same then. I chose the EZ-Steer 6 degree kit (but had a choice of 4.5 or 6 degrees … but the friend's trike that I had tried had a 6 degree kit … and I loved it). Bought the trike, loved the friends, loved the trike, loved the good rides … and I hated the steering, it was just too much like work in the mountains ... the rake kit put the fun into it.

The OP did not list a year for his Goldwing but the rake kit for the 18 and newer models is a complete new fork assembly as the new bike don't have triple-trees.

Just a personal opinion: "its worth every penny"; get it and you wont regret it.

Good catch for those with the newer Wings.

The OP's profile shows he has a 2006 Wing

I would message forum owner Papa Zook about this. He most likely sells these and may be able to beat the price.

    Hi Guys,

I just wanted to update the info that deputydawg had provided above.

The Powertrak for 2001-2017 GW1800's has been improved since that picture was taken.

They are now (since about 2012) forged 6061T6 aluminum and the angle has been changed from 4.5 deg to 6deg.

I have attached a picture of what is included in the kit. There is some hardware included also.

    Default fork spacers?

Had my fork seals replaced on my 2008 GL1800. I have the CSC Cobra XL kit on it. The tech made a note that trees are raked and have additional spacers for more preload but don't have the extended fork caps. I have a small wobble around 64mph up to about 71mph. I am nor sure what he means about extended fork caps? These in addition to the spacers?

Yes the fork extension caps are in addition to any internal preload spacers and most but not all rake kits come (CSC does) with the extended fork caps that replace the stock caps. Not using them, but using internal spacers instead, is sort of a cheap way to maintain ride height. The wobble is more likely to be caused from the steering stem not being sufficiently torqued. It needs to be set at 35-40 ft lbs.

Ok they retorqued the steering stem bearings too, but I don't know what they set them to. I was thinking it was 30 but its been a few years since I have done one. Should I get the extended caps ? Haven't had any ride height issues other then speed bumps, lol.

Checked rear tires today and had some pretty good wear on the inside treads, even some steel belt showing. Put some new tires on and now smooth as silk.

Thats good news Keith. What tire pressure are you running?

I have been running 24 to 26 lbs. The outside treads looked like they were still good. I have 30 lbs. in the new ones. I wonder why they didn't wear even across the treads? Is there an adjustment for the rear tires to put them both square to the road? Maybe more preload on the rear shocks? Been running the rear preload at 24 when 2 up or towing the trailer.

Most run about 22 - 24lbs in the rear tires with good tire life, even wear and a great ride.

    Default CSC trike PowerTrac

I just contacted CSC in Virginia. I found out the trike I just bought does not have the PowerTrac steering option on it. The part is $895.00 and $200.00 to install if CSC does it. Will, the man from CSC said that Powersports dealerships know how to install but I’m not sure I’m comfortable with that. Has anyone else installed the PowerTrac system by anyone other than CSC?

    Default Self install rake kit

I have installed two raked triple trees on my own motorcycles. A 1999 Valkyrie and a 2004 Road Star. The Wings have a few more pieces to get out of the way but the job itself is pretty straight forward. I did each one in about 5 hours accounting for beverage breaks and taking a few photos. Pay attention to disassembly and follow proper torque procedures. I have never had an issue and I know exactly what was done and how it was done.

    Default CSC Power Track

Any trike dealers that have a CSC certified trained installer is good to go with your install. But you are not that far away (186 miles give or take based off your avitar location) from the CSC facility in Arrington, VA just schedule a install date. But they were pretty busy as I had to about a 90 day wait on my install of their trike kit last week of April. JMHO
