Default Tires for 2017 TriGlide Rear Tires

I need to replace my rear tires. I see from the forum that people recommend the Good Year Comfortreds P205/65R15 94H

If I buy them from Amazon which seems to have the best price and take the wheels with old tires to a Good Year dealer is there anything I need to tell them when they install the new tires (they charge $22 per tire - Harley $55). Can they mount them with the standard tire machine that they use for passenger cars?

Hi Tom and Welcome to Trike Talk

Any good tire shop should be able to put your new tires on. Good Year tire shops most ALL have newer tire machines capable of doing tire changes without marring these type of wheels

Any tire shop should be able to handle the rears and balance them.

Hey Tom, I'm thinking about going with these tires as well. How did they work out for you vs the stock Dunlops?

    Thanks, Ron

Folks, I have been reading tons of (older) threads on rear tire sizes. On my 2017 FW (bought in NOV 23) I have the original Dunlop 205/65/R15 92T tires dated 2016. My concern is age of these tires and safety. They don't show signs of cracking or any abnormalities. I rode them for about 500 miles now. They have 9,571 miles on them. What I'm looking for here is a general consensus as to whether the opinion is should I keep using them or get new ones. If new ones, I would be considering Goodyear Assurance same size. And one last question, are there any problems getting Tire rack or other tire installers to put car tires on Trikes. Thanks in advance Gents/Gals.

I am also starting to think about new rears for my Free. The comfort treads are no longer sold so I have been browsing tire rack for some ideas. It seems to me that to get the best ride we would be best off getting tires that have the lowest load rating for the size we need. Even the lowest rating will FAR exceed the load we put on them and theoretically they should be the lightest with the most flexible sidewalls. I am starting to fish though the specs on the various options.

Any good tire shop should be able to mount and balance your tires, they need not know they are going on a trike, your tires are date coded 8 years old, peace of mind I would change them. The Good Year Assurance is a very good tire

I went with the Goodyearassurance after 5 years and 57000 miles on the originals, the tread was still decent.

My local tire shop mounted and balanced them.

I have 30000 on the goodyears now.

I took the rims in to have them mounted.

Not sure I would trust them to jack the bike up correctly.

I can still mount new rear tires by hand, I take them in for balancing, I have an old bubble balancer tho I have never had good luck with it

I do not do front tires any more, I take it in for that

I also verified recently that comfortreads are no longer available. The forums also included folks using Michelin defenders so thats what I'm using and as many have said (plus advice from Lehan Trike) drop the pressure to 20-22 lbs for better ride

Yep, I actually rode my trike in and did that. Actually, when I got my trike, it had the incorrect wheels on it. CSC sent my new wheels. I took the new wheels to the tire shop, had them take the wheels off and mount the tires on the new wheels.

    No problem at all.
