2011 trunk is locked on tri glide

So about a year ago I closed the truck and could not get it to open again. It seems the key is turned in the right direction but the button does not release the latches. I tried a couple asking a couple dealers about the problem. They claimed they had not heard of such a problem. One dealer in Kenai, Alaska spent over 20 minutes going through every service notice. He found nothing on this problem. They are a great shop to deal with.

In any event the locked truck has not been more than a PITA until now. But it time to plan my summer ride. I need to open the trunk. I remember very well how the latch mechanisms are released by a cable to the lock. My only thought is to drill a couple of small holes and see if I can release the latches inside the trunk. I hate to drill the holes but I'm really frustrated and need to be sure this is not going to happen on a road trip.

Any idea has to be worth checking out.

Just a suggestion.

Try using some silicon spray all around then edges of the trunk lock and inside the lock itself. I don't normally like putting lubricants down locks as they tend to attract grime.

Have yourself a break (pour a favorite drink, soda or coffee) or leave overnight.

With gentle pressure applied with one flat hand on the trunk itself try and use the key to see if you can either open the trunk this way or turn the key.

I would also call a local locksmith (if you have one available) and ask if they could help.

John, Welcome to Trike-Talk..........There isn't a cable ....Its a spade that a small plate drops on the spade and locks in a groove on the spade..

There are quite a few post's on that lock refusing to open.....
