After starting the touch screen radio on my 2014 Harley Trike beeps 3 times, pauses, beeps 3 times, repeatedly. Someone said this indicates the radio is defective & requires replacement. Any ideas?

Here is how you put your bike in diagnostic mode
1- Turn Ignition switch to OFF & Run/Stop switch is to Run.
2- Push odometer reset button in & hold. For 2014 & newer touring models this will be the toggle switch on the left control mount.
3- Turn ignition switch to Ignition and release the odometer reset button. Background lighting should illuminate, speedometer needle should sweep its full range and indicator lamps (battery, security, low fuel, check engine and cruise) should illuminate. The word "diag" should then appear.
4 - Push the odometer reset button once and you will see the selection menu "PSSPt" with the first P flashing.
5 - Each letter represents an area of the diagnostics module. The module that is flashing is the one you are going to check. To move from one letter (module) to the next, you push the odometer reset button one time. (from P to S to SP to t and back to P, etc.)
P = ECM/ICM(Electronic Control Module)[EFI] /Ignition Control Module[Carbureted])
S = TSM/TSSM (Turn Signal/ Security Module)
SP = speedometer
T = tachometer
6 - To get the DTC within an area of diagnostics, push and hold the odometer reset button in for 5 seconds and release. If there are any DTC's the code will be displayed or the word "none" will appear if there are no DTC's. Push the odometer reset button again to view additional codes if they exist.
7 - Record the codes.
8 - If DTC's are not to be cleared, Press and release the odometer reset button. Part number of module will be displayed.
NOTE: To determine if a code is current or historic, clear the displayed code by pushing in and holding the odometer reset button ( longer than 5 seconds) until 'clear' comes up. Release the odometer reset button. Turn OFF the ignition switch. Run your bike and shut it down then recheck the DTC's again by repeating steps 1 to 9. If the code is current it will reappear.
9 - Press and release the odometer reset button to continue to the next module.
10 - Turn Ignition switch to OFF.
On models not equipped with a tachometer "No Rsp" will appear when the tachometer identifier is selected.
"No Rsp" (no response) will also appear if the run/off switch is in the off position when doing this procedure.

Interesting ... About a week or so ago, I was trying to get HD to update the maps. Anyway, while I was waiting for the service manager to figure out if the maps can actually be updated, there was a guy there that described the same issue ... He had a 14 street glide ... the service writer was telling him his radio was shot and he was trying to get him a remanufactured radio. Don't know how it turned out for him.

last year my radio went blank and would not come back on until I shut the bike off and it seems like it would reset and work until I cranked the engine. I finally figured out my battery was going back when it would not crank at all. once I replaced the battery I have had no more problems, it did not make sense why it would not work after the engine cranked but after the new battery no problems.

Just remembered ... On my 14 Ultra Limited, I had an issue where the radio went blank. I don't remember beeping, but, it could have, don't ware my hearing aides when riding (long story). Anyway, I tried a lot of stuff and finally looked at the fuse. Fuse was good, tested with a meter, but, when I put it back in it "wobbled", just didn't feel tight. Disconnected the battery, used a jewelers screw driver to "bend" one of the connections just a tad and the fuse sat in the slot pretty tight. Reconnected the battery and all was well, never had another issue.
I have heard of at least 4 or 5 other 2014+ that have had the fuse "loose" issue. Worth checking. One of my friends said something about the can bus being really sensitive to voltage fluctuations, so when the fuse is loose it affects all kinds of stuff. Alan is not an electrician, so, can't verify that is true.
