Heck, I'm 64 and the supermarket carded me for a bottle of wine, what I'm not old enough to drink.

I grew a beard and mustache to look older. It worked. And to my absolute amazement, the very day I turned 21 I was carded when I picked up a six pack to celebrate when I got home after work that day. Been getting beer there since I was 18. The owner of the liquor store gave me the stink eye big time and threatened to ban me from the store. The cashier said to him, at this point what difference does it make.
Apparently they started cracking down to try to catch jerks like me and the stores that weren't paying attention. That's what the cashier told me anyway. I thought it was funny but the owner sure didn't. He could've lost his license so I get it but back then I didn't care. I would have gone to another store and tried again. And if that failed, gone over the state line where 18 was the minimum age. But that would cost a bunch of extra fuel. Well, it seem far back then. 30 miles one way.
The only reason some people are still alive is it's illegal to shoot them.

When i was a youth in Brooklyn the drinking age was 18.....But we would go to the local bar and grill and as young as 15 tell the bartender my old man sent me for a two quart's of beer....Back then they would put draft beer in cardboard containers similar to ice cream containers ....None of us of us drove, So we would just sit on a stoop and drink it..
Hard liquor or wine we would wait out side a liquor store and ask an adult to buy it for us...Things were easy in Brooklyn....When i was drafted [65] the drinking age in NY was 18.....But i was shocked when i was shipped to Tacoma i couldn't buy a beer the age was 21 in Washington State........

If you lend someone $20 and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.
