Diagnostic Software Question

I have found several software/tuning programs available that will perform what I want. I would like the ability to enable/disable features such as enable cruise on a bike that didn't have it but controls have been added. Also would like to be able to enable auxiliary lights on with High beam. My trike was flashed by the dealer no charge for the lights and they say they will flash the cruise enable for my 2 wheeler no charge.

I also want to be able to service bleed the abs system control valve on my 2 wheeler . For the price of the software i can afford to pay the dealer several times to service bleed. I really prefer to be able to do these things myself and have the required skills. So my question, is there any free software available that is similar to Forscan , a free and very powerful programming software for Ford and Lincoln vehicles.

Yes I had to buy a USB cable to OBDII but $50 well spent. On another note if You do own a Ford or Lincoln and are technically proficient you'll love Forscan. I just did several modifications to my new F350. Sorry if that sounds like a commercial.Really hoping there is the same type of software free for Harley.

I'm not aware of anything for Harley's that is free ... I'll be watching this thread for results .. ya know, just in case

SPX and OTC own the propitiatory rights to the HD Digital tech 2 scanner and soft ware (NOT available to the public)

Snap On Tools has a pretty good system for newer HD models tho it is not capable of enabling cruise control as of yet that I know of

If you were even so lucky to stumble onto a H D Digital tech scanner, you could use it for up to 2 weeks before it being locked out with out having a current dealer ID.

I see NO current complete work arounds at this time

Most software comes with a tuner bundle , I already have a Power Vision. It can enable or disable eitms , in general theory it is moving a 1 or a 0 to the correct spot in the ecm. Enabling/disabling the lights or cruise would again in general theory be placing a 1 or 0 in the correct location. Perhaps power vision could be persuaded to add that to their capability. The abs service bleed would be a little more complicated. In Forscan depending on the modifications being done it is binary 1 or 0 or a real number (so far have seen 0-7 used) or it can be hexadecimal Forscan can also do the abs service procedure. Daytona Twin Tech appears the cheapest to get the abs service procedure capability for Harley but dealer can do almost 4 abs services for the price of purchase. Another capable unit I found had an exorbitant price i could get almost 10 abs services done by dealer. If I was an independent shop I could justify the expenditure but I'm just someone who wants to do My own work. Even Vag-Com which is the same type of software for Volkswagen and Audi can be had for less than $200. I've spent $300 to get a scan tool capable of operating electric parking brake calipers to do rear brakes. That was a justifiable expense , even counting the price of the tool I was still under budget compared to what the dealer wanted to charge for the complete job. Luckily Harley and the car manufacturers haven't taken the path that John Deere and other Farm implement dealers have regarding the software to repair their machinery. The farmers are virtually locked out and at the mercy of the dealers.
