Fob battery 2 yrs for us

I change my fob batteries every year. It's a service item in my program. Back when, before I knew how to start the bike with the pin, I got stuck on my 07 ultra in Rawlings, Wy. Stopped for gas and after filling, the bike wouldn't start. After reading the manual, I was able to get a new battery and get it started. Since then, I change them every year, car, truck, bike or trike ... :D

I was in for a check up on the 16 before a long trip & tech asked me about the fob. He popped it open & tested. It was getting low so I had a new put in. Was over 2 yrs at that time. Now I carry a new one with us.This year it cost me many more thousands. Bought a new trike lololollo.

What he said, every spring I replace mine, plus I keep a spare in the trunk. Over kill? Maybe just want to be prepared.

Replace every spring AND carry a couple spares. When ever my wife rides along for a long day ride or multiple days on the road, we each carry a fob in our jacket pocket. Last Sept in AZ we stopped at a Navaho flea market. Went to start the trike to leave, nothing. Both fobs were dead. Put the spares in and away we went. I know there were no fob batteries available on that stop! No warning at all from the new batteries (last spring).

We had it happen on a trip too. We were at the Little Stonehenge on the Columbia River in OR. Not much there. Luckily had a spare fob battery. Once it happens to you, you'll always keep a spare in the tour pack

2032 Batteries are fairly inexpensive so changing them every year is cheap and really a good idea.

2025 (I just checked) is my number on my Honda key fob................Thank you for this GREAT REMINDER! I know that I have never even "thought" about it, and I'm a total freak with doing pre-repairs B4 I have a problem.................

THANK you! ThumbUp:GoodPost:

I got stuck at a rest stop and couldn't figure out why it would not start. Used the codes and changed the fob battery when I got home. I now change it every year and carry two on the bike. I have given two away at different times to other riders when their bike wouldn't start.
