I am not planning on sharing this info on any other forums, or even on our own website.
But TrikeTalk is more like a family and I feel comfortable to share what has been going on with DK Custom Products & the DK Team here.
No one is sick on the Team.
We began taking precautions early on. Starting 2 weeks ago we have not been allowing anyone in our facility...not USPS, UPS, Fedex, Cintas, nobody.
Equally, or more importantly, we do not receive any packages into our facility. They are left outside. We then treat the outside of each package/box with Oxine. After it has dried, we open the package/box and then treat the inside with Oxine. Only then can it come inside.
There are a whole variety of other steps we are taking to protect the DK Team And the packages coming in & out of our facility.
What we have been doing may seem a bit overboard to some, but it certainly cannot hurt, and we'd rather be safe than sorry.
We do have one Team Member who is older and has underlying health issues, as does his wife (respiratory issues). He is self-isolating at home and not able to work right now. (he normally works in packaging, so cannot remote work).
We have another Team Member who has a daughter with an immune-deficiency disorder. She has been remote working for over a week now.
Everyone else is doing well health-wise.
All schools in the area are canceled, all daycare is canceled. Almost every DK Team Member has children in K-12, so you can imagine the logistical AND health concerns.
There are confirmed cases of CoVid-19 in every county that DK Team Members reside in.
Half of the DK Team has been working from home for the last week, and will continue until things improve. They have all been doing a great job.
Manufacturing, packaging and shipping cannot work from home. It is continuing as normal...well not quite normal, extra care is being taken (multiple shifts to reduce folks being near each other, & more)...but as normal as can be.
Of all the contingencies that Devin and I have planned for/discussed over the years, this was never one of them. It is a bit mind-boggling, as I am sure it is for so many, world-wide.
So far everyone is healthy, we have not had to lay anyone off, & all shipments are going out on-time. Given the circumstances, we are most fortunate and hope & pray that this difficult time turns out better than some of the prognostications that we are seeing in the news.
Thank you for your support, and please be safe out there!
Kevin
