2009 tri trunk lock

I posted this problem a few weeks ago. I got some great suggestions from other users. My problem seems different than anyone else experienced. I have rephrased my problem. The trunk will not open as the lock button when depressed does not cause the mechanisms on both sides of the trunk lid to release. Those are located inside the trunk. As a result the trunk is virtually locked shut. I know the button unit only causes the cable on each side to release the actual unit holding the door shut.

This has to be the worst design flaw in Harley's engineering history as the trunk lock system came from them. Harley changed the system in 2011 or 2012. It almost as bad as the leaking trunk door that required a replacing the gasket around the trunk lid.

So has anyone drilled the lock and been able to get the trunk open. I'm about ready to drill a couple of access holes in the trunk to get to the mechanisms. This has been a locked trunk for nearly two years. I'm planning another long ride and need this opened.

Not Sure, but have you tried flipping the key back and forth while banging on it. Could just be stuck.

You are a better man than I Gunga din.......I would have drilled the lock out two years ago, From the looks of the setup once you drill the cylinder out you can pull on the cables to open the trunk........

Other than the common things like lubing the lock and pushing the side of the lid while pressing the button to try to get it open. It sounds like a date with the drill maybe coming?

Or a good pound with you hand on the side of the lid while pressing the button sometimes will work..
