    Default Motortrike Hornet RT For The Honda CTX700 DCT

    Anyone test ride or own the Honda CTX 700 DCT with the Motortrike Hornet RT conversion? If so, what has been your experience with this reverse trike conversion. I have read the Rider magazine road test of the Prowler RT for the Gold Wing but cannot find anything about the Hornet.

    I traded my 2014 Tri Glide in on a 2016 Indian Springfield. I also have a 2015 Triumph Tiger Explorer. A year and a half ago, I had a small stroke. I still take my two bikes out to keep them exercised but no longer feel comfortable riding them two up.

    Looking to make my way back to 3 wheels again.

    Thanks for any input you may have.

    Well, I’m thinking nobody here on Triketalk has any experience with the Hornet RT.

    How about it’s big brother the Prowler RT? Any owners or even anyone who almost bought one? Thanks.

    There are a few here that have the Prowler and a few threads on them.I haven't personally so much as saw one so not much help to offer.

    Default Prowler 1800 Goldwing

    I have a prowler and have had good luck with it. I had a Can -Am spyder and much prefer the wing , mostly for the reliability of the Honda.

    Thanks for your reply Lsab. Do you ever miss the power steering from the Can Am? I had a 14 Tri Glide and it was super hard to steer. A trip over the mountain from Gatlinburg to Cherokee used to wear me out. One thing the Tri Glide did well was head straight down the Interstate. It was very stable. Does the prowler give you a stable feel at Interstate speeds. Rider magazine said that with the direct mechanical steering, you could feel every little bump right through the handlebars. Can you describe how it feels from slow speed around the gas pump maneuvers to twisty but bumpy roads to high speed interstate traffic?

    I only miss the power steering from a standstill , I find that when moving it does fine. Highway speeds it tracks @ handles very well. Not as touchy as the can am with front tire pressures , the fronts are an easily obtainable car size .

    Since this does not lean , I have installed a car tire on the rear. For the concern about feeling the bumps-not a big issue. The front shocks are adjustable. Overall , comparing the reliability ,cost of service I prefer the 1800.

    I doubt you'll find much as far as information on the Hornet RT for the CTX; to be honest very few have ever been converted. Much like the motorcycle itself sales on that kit were "slow" to say the least & less than a dozen have been converted to my knowledge. The front chassis/control arms/steering mechanism is largely identical to it's Goldwing "big brother". The shocks are a bit softer due to the lighter weight in comparison to the GL but otherwise it's pretty much the same setup.

    I have a 2004 Honda GL1800 with a Prowler RT installed in 2016. When it come to maneuvering around gas pumps and making U-turns it is a bummer. It has a wide turning radius. I haven't measured it yet, but I will soon. Very heavy steering when hardly moving but no problem once you give it a little throttle.
