I have a 2011 and been thinking on changing bars. Has any one done the change do you have to change clutch cable? Do you need wire extensions?

Hi Clay.
On the 2011 you do need to change the clutch cable. I went with the Barnett +6" cable. I originally tried a +4", but wasn't happy with it. I also got the extended throttle wiring. The front brake cable fit as did the wiring for the turn signals, horn and starter button clusters.
You will have to remove the exhaust pipes in order to change the transmission end of the clutch cable.

With the narrow bars you may not need to use a longer Clutch Cable some have re routed the OEM cable and not changed it. i think it's worth a try. Ball end long reach Allen wrenches needed to remove radio pull it out enough to get to the handle bar bolts. Good luck keep us posted. Fred

I don't know if there's a difference between the faring and cabling setup for Pre-Rushmore and Rushmore Models.
I have a Rushmore Model and installed the 2+2 Narrow Sweepers last spring. I only used extensions for my Hand Control Cables and Twist Grip Sensor (TGS) Connections. I removed the cable keepers for clutch and brake cables which gave me the necessary length to easily remount those stock cables on the new bars. Once I removed the outer faring, I disconnected the electrical connections to the Auxiliary Lamps and Turn Signals and removed them.
With the Inner Faring free, then you just gently lift it a tad upward and tilt it slightly forward. It will stay in place, and I then had sufficient room to remove my bars after properly disconnecting my Switch Controls along with Clutch and Brake Lever Connections. Care must be taken with the Ground Strap when unbolting and removing the stock bars!
As said earlier, this method worked on the Narrow Sweepers Swapout on my 2016 Rushmore Trike.
Wish ya the best......Wes

Just looking at the clutch cable and cover I think if I used long ball end allen wrenches it would come off without removing the exhaust. Anybody ever try that? Thanks Guys for all the advice.
You need the room to get the release mechanism off the clutch shaft for changing clutch cable, It's a ton of work to get the clutch cable changed. Like I said some people do it with narrow sweepers without changing the cable good luck Shop manual says header pipe must come off if you are changing clutch cable. Do you have a shop manual? Remember you need to remove the lower switch panel and remove the ignition switch watch video's on this it's not hard but pay attention when doing it. With your 11 you don't need to loosen the inner faring but you do need to partially remove the radio remove (4) allen bolts long reach ball end. Slide the radio forward to get to the top handlebar bolts they are Allen (2) also. wrench safe Fred

I have been watching some of the videos. I do have the shop maunal on my laptop. I order bars and clutch cable tonight from Dennis Kirk. Thanks Fred
Used all existing cables over. The clutch cable now runs outside the fairing .

Read the Manual on TBW throttle by wire some are different watch lots of videos your faring is the same as mine Like Frank said you can run the Clutch cable on the back side of the faring and not need to swap it out your choice... I switched cables. Be sure to get a good seal on the clutch cable at the transmission it will be below the oil level I believe. New gaskets for header pipe needed start at mufflers and come forward good luck. Fred

I put the 2+2 narrow sweepers on my 2018 and didn’t change anything, may need to cut some zip ties and reroute some cables but was a very easy install, only cost me 100 bucks for the bars and didn’t need else, I’m not too far away from you longbeard maybe we’ll run into each other some time.
