Changing clutch parts - need experienced tips

Putting in a clultch device on my 2010 CUTG and I just want to make sure I don't run in to many surprises. I know there's going to be some, there always are .

I'm putting in the small extension on the clutch inner ramp so it reduces the throw. There's plenty of videos I've got bookmarked, but they all show AFTER the exhaust has been removed (all on two wheelers). I have to remove the exhaust to get to the cover to do it.

I've done a search here, and nothing really specific jumps out. I'll admit my search might have been off, so I'll apologize in advance if someone finds one I missed. Found a few on how to install slip on exhausts etc, but since I have to pull from the head it's going to be more involved.

It looks straightforward enough, but any tricks/tips/advice would be appreciated. I don't mind going slow, I just don't want to loosen bolt "A" and find out I should have removed connector "X" first.

Tom, disconnect the battery so there are NO surprises. Spray the nuts on the head pipes down with PB Blaster or some good penetrating oil now. You may not have to take the exhaust completely off. #28 loosen and remove clamp, remove #4 bolt, loosen the rear muffler bolts @ the rear hangars. If backing off the head pipe nuts does not drop the exhaust enough, remove all 4 of them and gently pull down on the header. This should give you room to get the trap door and cover off

Jack great picture shouldn't the crossover mount be loosen or taken off to get things moving? Sorry don't want to butt in but I forgot about the crossover when I did my last clutch cable, just sayin. Fred

#28 clamp on the crossover pipe and bolt #4 should drop the exhaust after loosening and or removing the header nuts and loosening the muffler hangar bolts ( they can be a bugger)

I installed the same thing on the clutch ramp to make it easier to pull in the clutch. All you have to do is remove the chrome pipe cover (#25 in the diagram) and you will have enough room to remove the two lower screws, preferable with a ball end allen wrench.

I just replaced my clutch hose and didn't remove the exhaust. Just loosen every thing up and removed the heat shields and was able to remove the cover over the slave cyclinder

Thanks for all the responses, and the added bonus of pictures . I'm waiting on some parts but now I have somewhere to start. Makes me feel much better about this new thing.
