    Default Replacing front wheel

    I'm going to attempt to replace my front wheel on my 2014 Triglide. I've watched about 5 YouTube videos and they all say to install the spacers with the engraved rings to the outside. I checked my wheel and noticed that the rings are on the inside. The dealer did the wheel swap last year so they installed the spacers backwards. My question is - is there a reason that the rings need to be toward the outside and if installed backwards, will that do any damage??

    Don't know mine were one each way the first time I changed tires at 14,000 and change I have seen no ill effects. I did however replace them properly.

    So the rings have something to do with ABS brakes.I have never owned a ABS bike so i have never payed any attention to the grooves unless they would interfere with the seals,this is before the sealed bearings.But i would always remove the spacers and leave them on what side of the bike they came out of.

    Steve, I don't think that is the case at all. Non ABS bikes have the grooves on both spacers (and they are interchangeable so will work on either side). Bikes with ABS have the groves just on the right side and a different spacer on the left. The left side spacer is wired and works with the WSS (wheel speed sensor) which is needed for ABS to function. No grooves and it will only go on one way so it cannot be reversed.

    Have a police bike with abs and when dealer did first tire replacement they put the rings on the spacer the wrong way. Don’t know how long I ran until I even knew rings were on backwards according to manual. I had no abs problems or failure. I took the wheel off eventually to give the rim a good cleaning and put back together per manual.
