Not sure what I bought. But....

Yesterday I committed to buying a 2008 GL1800 with California Sidecar Trike. I bought it from a dealer who I have 100% confidence in and is a CSC authorized dealer having done many conversions. At this point, I don't even know which model I bought. What I do know is it has a 3.5 aux. fuel tank, upgraded braking system, nav., ABS, heated grips/seat and a few bling additions. Just over 50K miles on the bike.

The dealer is replacing fork seals, installing new brake pads, replacing ALL fluids including final drive, installing new rear tires (front is already new) replacing air filter, installing new axles and rubber boots, swapping out my custom seat, handlebar risers, windscreen and air wings from my existing 1800 which I am trading in. My dealer said they want me to have a running start on successfully transitioning to my new trike. The drive shaft issue has already been addressed but I'm not sure how.....welded, I think. Anyway, here are a couple of pictures I took today while bike is being worked on. If anyone recgonized which model it is, please let me know. I don't want to pester the dealer at this point. He is too busy working to get me a happy bike.

Thank you Gentlemen. I think it is a Cobra model but not sure. It has the ground effect option that is pretty beat up by road rash and has a broken cornering light. I am having them removed. Perhaps I will go with something like aftermarket floor boards. Not sure yet. Looking at options. Suggestions welcomed..... Jim

I would try to keep the ground effects, expensive option, you could have them sprayed with Line-x Ultra and comes in colors. Would hide a lot of road rash.

We have a 2010 Goldwing with the Cobra CSC kit. Love it.

We had the drive shaft changeover kit installed on our Trike after we bought it. When we got it, it had the welded drive shaft update and we talked with a CSC installer and he suggested us to do the changeover kit which we did as ours was making a serious clunk when we shifted. The new update got rid of a ton of weight and it is now so darn quiet while shifting at least in the rear-end.

Ours is the Mesquite Brown Metallic which to us looks Grey which we like. We don't like brown and in our eyes this isn't brown.

We only have a little over 13,000 on her as of now.

I took delivery of the new (to me) CSC GL1800 today. I was ready to experience some kind of drive line or shifting clunks based upon my research here. I was pleasantly surprised how smooth the bike is. In fact, it shifts smoother than my former GL1800 2-wheeler that I traded in. The dealer told me the driveline had been welded to address the known problems. So tonight, out of curiosity, I looked under the bike to see if, by chance, it had the entire drive shaft updated. It didn't. The shaft goes into a formable size triangular shaped gearbox in front of the rear end. I'm happy..... Jim
