Saying Hi and asking a question

I've been a member since 2017 and just bought a 2015 freewheeler. I have some medical issues with two false hips and have trouble getting my leg over the seat. There is a company out there that makes a third step and I watched the video and it seems it would work, but the price is out of my ball field. I have an extra pair of passenger floor boards and I was thinking about a mounting bracket and I thought I would ask for advice or any suggestions. Thanks in advance.

I'm one that has the Trike Mid Step.

It was expensive, but considering what I have it on and what I paid for it, the expense wasn't THAT bad. It also helps my disabled daughter to climb aboard so much easier than me just lifting her on. Also much easier for me to boot.

I use this for awhile, then get back into old habits ... it really works and is very easy on my replaced knees ... got pretty good about remembering to do this when the knees where really bad. Try it.

No alternative suggestions. However, if you're considering a DIY Modification, for the utmost in safety, will likely take a fair amount of effort to ensure any bolt-on part/assembly has the same Form, Fit, and Function (F3) as the existing Trike Mid-Step. All said and done, Safety of Use must be Top Priority. Wish you the best......Wes

I didn't know about the Mid Step when I got my Free. Also, I'm not recommending anything, safety first! I built a step a couple of years ago and it works well for us. I used 1/2"x1 1/2" flat bar, two U-bolts and an Ebay peg. I weigh about 175 pounds. I modified the e-brake pedal, also.
