new CSC viper owner questions

About to get first 3,000 miles on new 2019 CSC Viper kit on my 2010 GL1800 Comfort. Since nearest dealer is 360 miles away, I need opinions on a few questions about first differential/rear oil change suggested for 3,000 miles....

I see that the only preferred jacking point for the rear end of the trike is on a plate just under the differential unit..which is also the location of the main drain bolt..Not really crazy about using a jack, so

I was wondering if I decided to use drive on ramps ... how many inches should I elevate with ramps?....Book says the normal ground clearance is 4 inches...so is another 4 inches going to be enough or maybe more ? Not a slim boy of 70+ years...needs some room and time to move on my back any more....

Sure would appreciate Goldwinger/CSC expertise and suggestions as to the easiest and safest way to do this on my garage floor....Thanks

Why 3,000 miles???

Most manufacturers recommend that the [/FONT][B]differential fluid be changed every 30,000 to 60,000 miles.

We have two identical sets of vehicle ramps that we sometimes use for our Duramax pickup.

We use them for our Polaris General and our Honda Trike too.

For the Trike we use 3 and align them up and then back up a few feet and drive the Trike right up the ramps and stop when to the top. That way it is leveled just like it was on the ground being all 4 ramps are identical. We use the heavy duty plastic ones and got them at NAPA on sale.

I use a K&L flat motorcycle scissors jack centered from the rear of the CSC trike and use two automotive style jack stands, one under each a-arm or sometimes use my wide deck craftsman motorcycle jack with the jack stands, removing the jack to access the differential. If the ramps dont work for you that's the best option.

CSC recommends the first change at 3000 miles and then every 20,000

Thanks for the help....I did go with the 4.5 inch plastic automotive ramps on Amazon and they worked great...had to buy 4 ramps, as they only come in pairs. I found a hinged wooden ramp example online and built mine out of 1X8 pine for changing the oil and filter on my 2010 GL1800. Constructed about same as plastic ramps then sawed in half and hinged on one side to swing out of the way to drain and replace the Honda oil filter....works great with the front ramp butted up against the curb....drive right up the ramps, do the work, and use reverse to back the trike off the ramps.
