About 6 weeks ahead of Kerrville I ordered a trailer. Then COVID hit and Kerrville was not going to happen. I had already paid a deposit for the trailer and I will use it eventually. The trailer company got shut down in March. They fired back up May 8th and I was given a delivery date a week later since it was almost done at shutdown. Sally and I headed for Phoenix to pick it up only to receive a call on the way that they built it wrong. Since I wasn't in a hurry for it there is time. They took $500 off for the trouble. They built a single axle, I ordered a tandem axle trailer.

I finally picked it up Thursday. It will live behind our 5th wheel a good bit of the time and since I would not be able to see if I had a flat I wanted an extra set of tires on it.

The first part of the project was to do the floor, mount the chock, and remount the tiedown rings.

I chose an a peel and stick vinyl tile.

It is pretty tight between the cables so I got a couple of pool noodles (not pictured).

This seemed like my best option for tying down the front. I didn't see any place to put any tension on the ratchet straps so this seems to work.

Next on the list is wood trim for the floor along the side. Metal edge for the rear and cabinets for the front.

More Later.

Just a heads up.....I strapped my front wheel on my 11 Tri like that...And the strap abraded/scarred the wheel....The next time i had to strap the wheel i put a soft towel between the rim and the strap so it wouldn't happen again...

You will. I am headed out this Thursday to scout campsites for the eastern AZ trip. It will be a fun ride for 3 days. I just scheduled vacation for Maggie valley so I will be coming through your neck of the woods then.

Kurt

Hi Kurt when your're down this way be sure to let me know. I'm only about 40 miles from Kevin and would like to meet up with you when you visit Kevin.

Kurt, what is the engine in your truck, I assume that is what you will tow with. Here in South Africa we have smaller engines than in the US so my interest is because you are going to tow your trailer behind your 5th wheeler, quite a load.

We visited my son in Connecticut recently and I was delighted to see the trucks on the road, one guy pulled up next to us whilst we having an ice cream, he pulled in quietly but just before shutting down the engine he hit the throttle, lovely noise, turned out to be a 6.8 diesel, unheard of here except in a semi.

My truck is a 2011 F450. It is a beast and has a 6.7 liter. I tow my boat behind the camper quite often and it handles it well.

Good point. I also use towels between the straps/soft tie loops and the metal when securing.

I am going to the Maggie Valley Gathering. Making my reservations in the morning. Probably check in on Monday the 7th and check out on the 11th of September.

I am really going to enjoy my scout trip. I will be posting some video to my channel late next week and photos and a mini ride report here starting tomorrow night I hope.
