I spent yesterday putting on my shift linkage that I bought over the winter plus a few other things that I bought since it was not really hot and humid out. Well I was not a happy camper when installing this, that cover that is supposed go over the transmission arm does not work, no way of getting it to work, I was putting the same linkage arm that I had put on my 2016. So I ended putting stock back on and viewed some videos on you tube and found out the cover is not used at all, basically I went to harley website and found out I had the right one so it said, the you tube video says he contacted harley and they said not to use it. Well I went back out and installed without the cover covering the transmission arm, it works but I plan on calling harley and complain about this, you spend over $130 for the linkage and you want everything to fit and cover up the transmission arm. I guess with the M8's they changed how the arm is, it is curved at the top instead or straight like my old one, why they don't come up with a cover that will work with the M8's and why did they even change it.
So if anyone is planning on buying the shift linkage from harley like me and you have a M8 plan on not using the transmission cover.
All for now Trampas
