Daily Road Mileage has a lot to do with how often You ride, how long You have been riding, Weather, Type of Roads, Physical Condition, etc., etc. I have put in as many as four 700+ days back to back, and a few 800+ days. My Wife on the other hand prefers 400 or less per day.

If You are contemplating increasing Your mileage per day, start out with just under Your present maximum, and work up, adding about 50 per day. Try this every weekend on at least one day. If You start getting tired on a Ride....ALWAYS stop and take a break. Later try putting together back to back days....

When we go on long trips, I take as many freeways as possible to get there.
Doing that, we can put on 600 miles a day.
After that we start sightseeing and hold down the mileage.

With Wifey on, 450-500 miles go by quick. Music, pit & potty stops whenever we need & a lot of yakking! She dozes after lunch & I switch on the Radar Detector. Amazing how smooth the GL is at..er..upper speeds... On extended day trips we find the 1st day always feels the 'longest'. So we do what ever feels comfortable, usually abt 350-400. The nxt day is better & we get to 450-500 miles. Thereafter it is purely convenience and easily 500+. Alone, I average 600-700 and bested out at 1200 miles on 2-w, but wouldn't like to do that again. Get too tense watching out for Smokey Better you allow a more comfortable pace & a longer transit to start with rather than calculate a mini-Bun Burner & get stressed about meeting your daily goals. Default The four o'clock rule

When my wife and I get on the road we ride until 4 PM. At that time we find suitable lodging, check in, secure the bike/trike, shower, have a nice dinner, back to the room and have ample time for whatever. Breakfast in the AM, back on the bike/trike, repeat.

    Spiritdream,

I see that you have a C-50 or Volusia Lehman Trike.

I consider myself an Iron Butt Rider, in fact I am, but I can tell you that I can hardly make 150 miles on one of those. I rode a Tramp about 50 miles and couldn't get off of it fast enough. The stock seat was a killer. Later I rode one with a Mustang seat and did get 150 miles before I fell off in pain and numbness.

If I was numb, how could I feel the pain ???

A good seat is the key. On your Suzuki and back country roads, 300-350 miles is tops and that is 8-10 hours. Back roads wear you out more than the Interstate does and lighter Trikes don't absorb the road like their heavier counterparts.

It depends on where I am riding.Around here curvy mountain roads,300 miles is a long day in the saddle. We prefer to measure by time.8 hrs on the bike is about right for us.Last summer we went to Maine ,one day we were on the bike 12-1/2 hrs.Thats just to long for us.We have done over 600 miles in a day,but 400to 500 miles a day is about what we travel on average. Again it depends on the roads we are traveling.

Our long trips start with 350 - 400 mile days. We have traveled up to 500 mile in a day but we are dead tried at the end of the day. It really depends on what you are doing and how far it is to get to the next place.

I don't really like to drive the freeways but my longests days were 550, 560 and 640 miles on the Venture ...but you just don't get saddle sore a Venture.

Bottom line is, you know how far you can ride before it gets uncomfortable. Just use that info and plan your adventure....if you feel ok, press on, if not, stop. Option "B".....trailer...

I try to plan for 400 miles a day. Never seems to work out that way ... seems some days are 500 miles and some are 300 miles ... so on average, 400 miles seems right to me. Lots of stops along the way. (More and more they are rest room stops ... old age ain't for sissy's) I also plan a meal break somewhere in the middle. getting off the ride seems to keep me ALERT ... and that is the name of the game.

Back in the day ( early to mid 80's) I took a trip to Phoenix from The Motor city. Left home at 9:20 am and headed out on a cool day on a Saturday morning. Pulled in to Phoenix early Monday noonish and it was 80 degrees, Just a bit over 2080 miles. Now days even in my Chevy truck I can't do that and I won't. It take us most of the time 4 days to get from here to Minnesota to see the kids. I can do it in 3 but you never see anything but highway. So the most we do any more is around 450 tops in one day. Life to short to be in a hurry all the time.

Best I did on my maiden voyage was 454 miles in one day. Total for trip was 2067. Finished in 5 days. Left on a Wednesday morning, arrived home in East China Mi. On Sunday afternoon.

I like traveling long distances and I do them all the same, more or less. We travel 100 miles take a break, have a snack, water, get some gas and take a potty stop. Another 100 miles stop lunch, water, gas, potty stop then back in the saddle. Another 100 miles another stop bake a break, snack, water and potty stop. Then the last 100 miles and we stop for the day of course get gas, eat and and all that other stuff.

So we do around 400 miles every day, rain or shine. If we are riding in the mountains it is a lot more work to do the 400 miles because the speed isn't nearly as high.

I, as much as possible, stay off the super slab. I came back from Run For The Wall a few years ago, on 2 wheels. We left Ohio and came to Cedar City, (home), and didn't travel on one foot of interstate. It was a good ride.

We have been doing long trips for over 35 years and we found just stopping every 70 miles or so to stretch, grab a cup and just take a 10 min break and you will be good for 400 miles a day and not feel spent at the end.
Trying to make up time by going 200 miles at a crack does not work for us. The most we ever ran in a day was 740 miles but that was just one time and it was a long day.
Our friends run a Harley and do just fine except they are pretty shot at the end of the day mainly due to the exhaust noise. You're not going to beat a GL for comfort, ride and quiet so that makes a difference also.

We have two riders here in my town that hold the unofficial world record for miles per day. 10,000 miles in 10 days. it's unofficial as Guinness will not publish as they can not condone breaking records while breaking the law. I guess the only way this record could be done would be by doing excess of 90 mph and getting little sleep. I am pretty sure I don't want to try this. Currently they are going to try 15k in 10 days, I am really sure I don't want to tag along. I don't know what the current record is but I am thinking Al should do the next legitimate attempt on a SportTrike.

We left New Smyrna Beach Florida on Monday around 8:30, stopped 3 times for fuel, one for potty, lunch and Savannah HD (they are in a new building) and got home around 4:30.. 550 miles. I was tired but could have rode further if needed. AS some have said, we usually make our first day the longest and sightsee after that. Of course, sometimes it takes two hard days riding to get where you want to be going.

    Your Mileage may vary

By myself, I'll be "on the road" for 8-12 hours and of that, actually rolling 7.5 - 11 of them.

Mary and I together, mostly we're "on the road" for 8 hours and rolling for about 6 of them. This is what we do the majority of time. We may cover 200 miles or 500 miles, just depends on the road.

But we do have longer days here and there. Lots of days where we're rolling for 8-9 hours (mostly interstate days, where we're just chewing up the miles to get somewhere), and a few where it's been 11+ hours.

We were just talking the other day about this, we've had Many interstate days where we did 600-700 miles and were pretty fresh still at the end of the day.

We typically average 470-600 miles a day...now. When I "retire".. Who knows?

Like others said, alot has to do with weather. We go to Gatlinburg every year and on the way up from central Fl we do about 450 miles on the back roads stop in Athens, Ga and have a easy 2nd day. On the return trip it's all interstate back home 1 day 650 miles.
