Thread: Bummer!

    Default Bummer!

    I led a 350 mile ride two months ago, and was almost home when I downshifted into a turn and tried to accelerate, but only crawled. Thought the clutch was gone, so I replaced with all new Barnett set, plus pressure plate and spring. Guess what? Same behavior as before. Ended up taking it back to the shop that did the conversion and was told there was a problem with the jack shaft and maybe more. Hopefully, it’ll be fixed before fall riding weather returns to AZ.
    2012 Victory XCT with CSC Ventura kit. Lloydz air filter, adjustable timing wheel, and HOH-1cams, Power Commander 5.

    Never heard of such a thing!

    Factory rep said this was only the fourth one he’s heard of.

    We had a timing belt on the rear jug skip a link this spring, also a rare occurrence on the Victory’s. Our mechanic fixed it pretty quickly and we headed out to the Badlands with no problems for the long hot trip. I guess being Victory riders isn’t all sunshine and roses (but pretty dang close to perfect!).

    The jack shaft pulley was improperly heat treated and the inner splines stripped out. Waiting for new parts, now.

    That happened to quite a few Can-Am Spyder's early on.[08/09]....Factory Specs were Way too tight for the drive belt....

    Thats the way it was with my Spyder [08]...Made a left turn out of a light shifted into 2Th. and the engine just revved...Thought it was the cluch also...

    I want to say thank you to you early pioneers. By the time we got my wife's 012 RT tourer, those problems were already corrected.
    The only reason some people are still alive is it's illegal to shoot them.

    Well, I sure hope so! I’m waiting for the new sprocket to arrive from the factory. If it happens again, I will be very pissed!

    You're welcome.....I did a lot of R and D on my 08 Spyder for Bombardier on my dime's $$......I fixed a lot of the problems caveman style ....Like the air box filling up with oil, So common was the problem that the air box was nicknamed Oil-Box....Did that fix with a porous sponge the size of a sugar cube......

    UPDATE! My trike and I are back on the road! Thank you CSC for the prompt shipping of my sprocket and retaining hardware! Also, thanks to Dave Bierman of Southwest Trike Center!
