2016 Tri Glide Reverse Motor not working
The reverse motor on my 2016 Tri Glide wouldn't work today. This is my second reverse motor that went bad. I had a 2012 Tri Glide that the reverse motor broke. I was wondering if the manual reverse would be better. Will the extended warranty cover the change over to a manual. Which would be better the electric or manual reverse?

100% Manual is the way to go.....I put one on my 11 Tri-Glide ......Its just like parking a car....You see a spot you just pull in and like a car you just pull right out...Gravel , Grass' Up-hill it doesn't matter just pull right out'''Fear no parking spots....Just be careful you can burn rubber if you gas it too hard it will go that fast in reverse ...

It installs on the transmission , You reach down and with a little lever you put it into reverse... ..

If you have warranty, check with dealer , Harley is good at voiding warranty if you make any changes to drivetrain. I doubt HD will help in changing to manual. In any case,manual is very expensive. You have the ESP, pay the 50 & get a new reverse. Figure over 2000 for a manual.

I doubt ESP is going to OK installing a non HD mechanical reverse. That said why not talk to your dealer about installing the newest reverse part number this time.Part # 83388-09C instead of the normal rebuilding of your old unit. Or depending on how much ESP you have remaining, cancel it and use that money to purchase a mechanical reverse set up and locate an indy shop to do the install

I agree about the manual. If you are out of warrantee then thats the way to go. If not have the electric fixed under warrantee.
If you are somewhat mechanically inclined and can follow instructions well then installing a manual yourself is an option. I've done 2. The last one a couple of months ago on my 2013. First one on my 2007 conversion. You should be able to but the kit for around $1300. It is about a 3 to 4 hour job for a mechanic.
If you put an electric replacement in and have to pay for it it will be around $1500 with a new reverse motor and you are subject to the same issues.
