    Default External breather leak

    External breather banjo bolt and sealing washer seems to be barely seeping, I see oil on it and residue bellow on the chrome. Banjo bolt is tight. I have always periodically checked. Going to take apart this weekend see if I can determine why it’s doing this. Any thoughts or opinions about sealing with gasket material ( I have gasket paper and a gasket making hole punch set) or maybe permatex. It’s a little big for brass sealing washers like on calipers. May see what auto stores have. D&K are you reading this and have anything to add.

    I had a bit of seepage on the rear bolt, I used some No more leaks
    Nuff Said," Were Burnin Daylight, Lets Ride"(Sober 37 years)
    Current ride : 2021 FREEWHEELER M8, oldest ride 1960 FL

    Be careful not to over tighten ... you could crush the o-ring

    Don’t recall an o ring. Will check and replace if needed. Installed in 2016 and no issues till this year.

    That works on the threads to seal but if the sealing washers are compromised all the thread seal in the world won’t help. Banjo bolts rely on the sealing/crush washer. Fuzzy posted about o rings , although I don’t recall any I’ll check and see if my checking/tightening yearly as a check crushed or damaged them.

    You might try to match the size of your crush gaskets with copper drain plug gaskets @ a Napa auto store. The softer metal may work better than ( I assume your crush gaskets are steel)

    You might try to match the size of your crush gaskets with copper drain plug gaskets @ a Napa auto store. The softer metal may work better than ( I assume your crush gaskets are steel) There is also aluminum banjo bolt gaskets in different sizes, been using them on power steering hoses for years on imports.

    Well I disassembled today. There are no O rings , I could tell I had used thread sealant on the original install. One of the sealing washers was damaged. Either from over tightening?

    Possible some rotation at one time?

    Sanded flat , inspection on all the components, some new thread seal. Assemble and see over time how it goes.

    Hopefully that will hold for you for another 3-4 years. If not, give a call or an email and ask us to send you a few nylon washers...they work well.
