    Maybe a bit of a long post but trying to include as much info as I can. '16 Tri Glide. Was riding today and noticed the security light came on steady. Got home and did some checking to find that it's an indicator of electrical problems sometimes. In looking at it noticed I had no tail lights either on the tour pack or fenders. Looked further and the combo running/turn signal lights on the front were out. Checked for diagnostic codes and none showed up. Checked the P % A fuse and it looked good. Replaced with a spare anyway with no joy. Took that fuse out and turned on the switch and no fog lights either so know the fuse is good. The lights under the tour pack shining down on the trunk still work. Looking at the wiring schematic and the only place I can see the circuits for the front and rear running/tail lights coming together is at the BCM. All other lights including brakes and turn signals work fine. Appointment at the dealer Tuesday morning but if it's a simple fix I'd like to get it done since there's a nice rally close by I wanted to go to this weekend. Any ideas welcome and TIA.

    Wish I could help more I'm sure Jack will chime in on this one he is one of the best an old Harley wrench and a very good one. My uneducated guess and it is just a guess the problem maybe in the 8 pin connector under the seat. Good luck. Fred

    I re-checked for codes. For some reason they wouldn't show going through the boom box system but when using the other method I got a b2 168 code which is Running lights output shorted low. From the wiring schematic the main place the front and back lights come together is the BCM. Pulling the seat today to make sure nothing jumps out at me as loose or shorted.

    That is a good starting point. Write the code down, try clearing the code. Do The lights work now? What have you done to your bike recently including washing it and riding in the rain?

    I had not done anything to the bike but ride it. I'll try re-setting the code to see if the lights come back. I am assuming, however, that it will reset the code.

    Just re-checked and also had a b2 169 code Running lights output over-loaded. That one reset and didn't come back. The b2 168 code would reset and immediately come back. I did notice the headlight seemed to "flicker" as it reset. BTW no changes in stock lighting other than some led's on the engine and frame (installed several thousand miles ago) that are hooked through a fuse directly to the battery.

    The B2168 is for sure in the running lamp circuit. Check under the seat for pinched wire.

    I would also check the bulb sockets for corrosion and to make sure bulbs are not loose

    These BCM and can bus electrical systems are quirky. A few weeks ago my !7 Freewheeler had no rear brake lights and a BCM code displayed along with the security light on. 2 days later the code was gone, I did not clear it, it just did not show up on a scan. The brake lights started working again. My intentions was to get my dealer replace the rear brake light switch replaced under my ESP. No can do until the DTC resets so I may buy the switch and do my own install. Good luck and post what you find

    Had a lot of people suggest the brake light switch. It seems to operated normally. The dealer did replace the rear switch several months ago since it was stuck "on".

    Rear brake light switch will set a B2223 code in the BCM, I dunno what Harley was thinking in placing the switch so close to the front exhaust?

    No joy looking under the seat. No pinched wires that I could see. Checked all the connectors that I could see and traced all wires as far as I could with nothing obvious jumping out. Only other thing I can imagine is that something may have gotten to one of the wires under the fender.

    Default Solution!!

    Well, turns out it was the wire under the front fender going to the tip light. Apparently when it was apart for painting the wire was not put back in it's protective channel and got down on the tire. They didn't have to cover it under the ESP but they did so props to ToadSuck Harley in Conway Ark for taking good care of a customer!!!
