Newby to trikes and this forum
Long-term motorcycle rider (53 years). Never even got on a trike until about a month ago. My wife has found it just too difficult to get on my ST1300 but still likes to ride, relatively short distances anyway. We, actually she, decided we needed to at least look at a three wheeler because she thought it looked like it would be easier to get on and off.
I rode a friend's Spyder while on a trip. Very strange feeling in turns but I knew it would be and that I'd probably be able to get used to it. After I returned home she was still mildly pushing for a trike so I started looking. Rode a Harley Tri-glide. It was a little the worse for wear and WAY too noisy for her. We had arranged to check out a Gold Wing, which is what she actually thought she wanted. We didn't even make it a quarter mile when she said I want this bike! I "forced" us to ride a few miles but to keep peace in the family I agreed. It's an '02 GL1800 with a Champion solid axle. I've put about 300 miles on it so far.
Still prefer two wheels but not dissatisfied with our purchase. Got digital manuals for both the bike and the trike kit. "Sort of" took it apart just to get familiar with what I had. Still not too sure I'm not going to wish we'd gone with a independent suspension but I think it'll all work out. Sure seems unnatural to not put a foot down as I come to a stop. �� Oh, we're in West Central Montana and I'm betting if someone wanted to do rides it would encourage her.
