1. What bike are you converting?

2. I went with Mystery Designs (after a disastrous experiment with another company-now out of business-thankfully) and I like it a lot. But the manufacturer is in Dallas and I am nearby, so I was able to go the shop, meet the owner, ride a trike, and also pick up the kit when ready. I also liked the "corvette" style body. I did my own install. If you are not installing yourself, I would find a kit with a dealer/installer in your area. Unlike other kits the MD kit uses the stock swingarm, which is chopped and the MD axle mount welded to it. I don't weld so the mfgr did the cutting and expert welding on mine. My preference, of course, would be a kit that does not rely cutting and welding your swingarm. I went with the IRS option and am very happy with that. But the shocks that came with the kit (Progressives) were too short and my rear end was too low. I found some shock extenders (in the off-road truck arena) and lifted it up.

3. My front steering was stable with only a slight low speed wobble. But left turns from a stop were really tough. I contacted Papa Zook and he fixed me up with a Hawg Halter rake kit and fixed both the wobble and the tough turns.

I got the HHI 9* rake. I think that is the resulting rake * not just the degree of rake in the triple tree, though. Papa Zook on this board (Cut N Shoot Customs) knows worlds more about this than I. That is who I would consult on all your questions on the conversion. Much of my decision was based on mine being an antique '87 Electra Glide. So a lot of your decisions must be based on what bike you are converting.

Once it is dialed in, very nice stable platform.

Only kit I know.

I went with the Frankenstein kit on my 04 Dyna Lowrider....loved the kit and was able to put it together myself(with a little help from a friend sliding the axle together) Didn't want a full body on the trike...more or less a "chopper" or "cruiser" type. Put a 4 degree rake on the front end and extended the front end a total of 6inches. Did this two years ago and couldn't be happier. They are great guys to work with. No welding or chopping up the swingarm. They sell one that you just bolt on. I went with their 38" wide kit and 265x50x15 tires on the rear. Handles great---had it up to 85-90 MPH and solid as a rock. Took a few trophies in the bike shows that I entered also. Always a head turner.
