Default Replace 2016 Tri-Glide or buy newer

Quick back ground. Just lost everything in the wild fires here in Oregon. Included in the loss was my 2016 Tri-Glide. I had just finished with the last up grade from DK. I had every upgrade he had to offer except the oil filter itself. I was very pleased with the way it ran and very pleased with the temps.

I am looking for opinions from as many of you as I can get. This is the one site on the internet that I trust the opinions of everyone. I can pick up another 2016 Tri for 31 grand. It has 700 miles on the clock. Now I am wondering which way to go. 2016 or newer. I have concerns with the problems the M8s have had. It would be great to get your thoughts.

We are just now navigating through all the hoops so each decision I make has to make sense. I do not have access to a computer all the time so I will check back in as i can.

    Thanks, Steve.

A few months ago I picked up for 2019 from a Powersports dealer who got it from a dealer that was going out of business it had Only two hundred miles on it and still has The factory-warranty for 32 k out the door There seems to be a lot of relatively new low mileage tri glides on the market ‘ At least on the East Coast....

Sorry to hear of your troubles out there. I just got off my 16 a few months ago, & bought a 2020 Tri. Already almost 8k on it & that M8 has it all over the 103. I think most of the M8 issues have been resolved. We recently rode from Ohio to Wenatchee,Wa & back. Not a single issue. The M8 engine is smooth & quiet with plenty of git up . I know the earlier M8's had issues, but I never buy a 1st or 2nd year bike. I remember when Twin cams came out & they too had a few issues. Couple years later all was ok. The 16 had many replacing water pumps,so If it is not a strain on the pocketbook, get the 20 or 21. Only thing we have done is get ProAction susp. front & rear. Harley has never had a great susp. This new one they are using is no better.
2020 TriGlide Tahitian Teal aka (Hawaiian Hussy). Avon frt & Comfortred rear tires. ProAction frt & rear susp. RZ seat. DK floorboard extension & rear axle retainer kit with EBS, HD pull -back bars. Custom Dynamics front turn signals & Vent grill. All ,HD "Edge Cut " accessories.

So sorry for the loss you have incurred, let's hope you had enough insurance which helps .

Now as far as I'm concerned I would not buy another 2016 even if it has only 700 miles on it, way to much money for a 2016, it won't even book for that regardless of the miles. Go with a 2020 and start adding stuff like you did on the 2016, I think in the long run you will be happy with a 2020, I know quite a few on here have upgraded to the 2020 and are happy about it, some even upgraded to a 2019 which I think right now would be hard to find a new 2019 in stock at a dealer, at least around here, none at all, don't even have any used to speak of, one dealer does have a 2018, as far as 2020's none here that I can see and my dealer usually has at least 6 in stock, for some reason bikes are selling really good around here and they can't keep new in stock let along used, they are trying to buy used bikes to have in their inventory as we all know they won't give you what it's worth.

Get a 2020 or even a 2021 which I don't think the 2021 trikes won't be out until next year, that is what I heard, keep us posted on what you decide.

    All for now Trampas

P.S. I had a 2016 and now have a 2018, very happy with the 2018 and it runs just great, better than the 2016 and I thought it ran good

2016 Tri Glides are going $20K - $22K even with low mileage. Just traded 16 Tri Glide in for a 20. I have no regrets. The 103 is old technology and the 114 has plenty power, even without a Stage 1. I would definitely go with 2020 vice a 2016

If your pay out and budget allows, I would opt for a 2020 model. Forget the ESP the dealer sells and go with https://www.motorcycleagent.com/ after your HD 2 year warranty

NUC!!! Say it isn’t so!!! That was just about the nicest looking Harley trike I have EVER seen!! It had everything and the personal touches you put on it were just right.. not too much, not too little. I especially liked the American flag on the trunk.

Alas,,, I can’t wait to see what you do with the new one.

Sorry to hear about your losses.

I just traded this last Feb. I had a 2016 billet silver like yours & swapped it in on a 2020 spruce. I like the motor & other upgrades. I would definitely get the 2020.

Yea it was time. Got a decent trade (if you want call it, Namely, took in the shorts) Have a big tub of things I took off it. They got a stripped down version of what once was. Don't worry the flag will be back! Just have to put everything back on it first.

Well i have had a 16 and now on a 17,the 17 has plenty of power but so did my 16 with a gutted head pipe, stage 1 air cleaner and a tune i only had my 16 from May to Sept of 16 but i put 8000 trouble free miles on it.I traded for a 17 in Sept of 16 now i have complained on this forum before about all the issues i have had with my 17, no engine issues other than the oil migration problem which is now corrected( that's another story). My 17 does run a bunch hotter than my 16 although it hasnt been tuned or head pipe gutted, with that said it would be a toss up but if you can find a low mileage 16 at a better price you would have money to put the upgrades back on the new to you 16.Unless you get at least a 19 you will still be stuck with the crappy air shocks.I feel $31,000 is a little high when a black 2020 stickers for $36,000, best of luck with your decision.

You know me, I lean toward darker colors but not black. I got Spruce with black in lays. The flag will be back on the trunk. I just ordered a new one! Still have to order new hand grips, bars and new hand painted primary cover. I might go with a machined Navy Emblem with a Trident. Not sure yet.

Damn Steve, I am so sorry for your losses, hope you and Mary are safe. In my opinion, that 16 is over priced even at 700 miles. I can't comment on the 20's though, I'm still riding a 15.

No it was me......There were some very extenuating circumstances Ie ; Wife wanted the Slingshot out of ''Her'' Garage! ...And i got tired of not being able to ride it in the rain even wet roads what with the lack of traction from the single rear tire...Never had that problem with a Spyder i had [2008]...Believe me if Indian had made a factory trike that is where i would have gone to....But it is what it is.......

    Default New 2020 for me

I just purchased a 2020 Triglide July 7 and already have 6000 miles on it I really like the reflex ABS braking system. This is my first Triglide. Took me 3000 miles to get used to it. But I am enjoying the heck out of it. Added all kinds of comfortable stuff on it. Has a dial in rear suspension system. I find it to work very good. When I’m by myself I turn it down to four when I’m with my wife I turn it up to 15 and you could really feel the difference. It is a nice ride. I am very happy with it. So far the M8 engine has performed flawlessly. I’ve gotten as high as 44 miles per gallon and as low as 25. I also give high praise for the New Harley Davidson navigation system. I used Garmin for years on my other bikes and highly like them but this new Harley GPS system Is way more user-friendly and I really like it. I threw my garman away. I think you would be very happy with a 2020 model
