Riding some of the roads...
...along side the lake...
...the fall colors are stunning. Plus, I really enjoy riding on roads where the trees overhang the road from both sides.
Sally has been chase in the Jeep, with Tater and Spud.
Are we gonna park here? No...
...this is better. Check out the colors!

After hanging at the lake a bit, we're itching for some more riding...
...Kurt is leading another great ride today!
Days like this...
...were made for riding...
...folks that don't ride...
...have no idea what they're missing.

Before you know it...

...we're all back at basecamp...

I think Lola is socializing! She's not even looking at her trike. The times I have ridden with her, she seems to exhibit traits of a social butterfly..... (Not bad traits). Look forward to next time..... Jim

This is the last day of riding in Arizona.
Kurt is taking us to Salt River Canyon.
Everybody met up at basecamp...
...and we took off from there.
Another beautiful day to be riding!
Short stop for fuel.
Back rolling...
...we start descending...

...these sweepers headed down a pretty steep grade have been fun, but if you look closely, there is a "Fun Ahead" sign!
This road is a blast...
...the views are interesting...
...and the road surface is a good quality...
...with the requisite curves...
...it is a lot of fun!

As I was saying...it is a lot of fun. But something is different...a look back...
...another look ahead...
We stop here at the "entrance" to Salt River Canyon and I figured out what is different. IT IS HOT.
We have gone done so much in elevation, that the nice comfortable weather we've been riding in for the last 2.5 days is no longer...
...it feels like "Arizona" now.
After heading down a bit more, we stop at this scenic overlook.

Kevin
This is a great overlook...
240 degrees of great views...
...Amazing!
Back rolling...
...we continue to lose elevation...and it is getting quite a bit warmer.
We stop down at the bottom, near the "river".
More in next post.
Kevin
This is the view of the "river" and the bridge we just crossed getting to this little stop.
Kurt was going to take us thru the canyon...but most of us thought it was too warm to enjoy...we wanted to climb back up to higher elevation and cooler temps.
When we decided to head back up...Kurt and I wanted to open it up a bit for a few miles. Here's a little vid of that
and a few pics...
...there's the bridge that we left a minute or so ago...
...that Mary took as we sprinted back up to the scenic overlook.
More in next post.
Kevin
After we got back together, we started the ride back up to higher (cooler) elevations.
*
Kurt took us back a different way...
...we may have, but I don't remember going over Geronimo Pass earlier.
We're back at some elevation now...
...and soon after, back in some woods!!!
We stopped at this Casino, some went in for lunch, others of us stayed outside and ate the lunch we had packed.

Thanks for the ride. Wife and I were in Phoenix Az 2010 January-June and 2010 September -February 2011. Some of the best roads and weather. Rode hundreds of miles east west north and south from Phoenix and enjoyed Az as much as any state we’ve traveled. The ride from Scottsdale to Tortilla Flats is fun and scenic. I love the high desert terrain and the sunrise and sunset.
