Tinting a windshield a good idea?

I was wondering if anyone has ever tried to apply window tinting on the inside of their windshield. In the fall the sun is very low and blinding around 4 o'clock or so. I have an F4 windshield and would hate to ruin it if I wanted to remove the film later. My prescription sunglasses aren't current and didn't seem to help when they were unless I wore "glaucoma" style glasses over them anyway. I'm thinking of maybe tinting the top 3 or 4"'s so I'll have something to look through when directly facing the sun. Has anyone ever tried this and do you think it'll work?

Every windshield had I look over them I keep a set of heavy tinted prescription sunglasses with the Trike and that solves the problem of sun glare.. When it gets colder I wear a helmet with a flip down sunshade ...Most eyeglass places can tint the sun glasses you have now as heavy as you want or need and then just use it as a spare to keep on the trike and get the proper prescription 🤓 save your eyes now...!

I would think the tinting you'd add would not hold up well to the elements. Those tints are designed to be inside the cabin.

Also, I would think you'd do significant damage to the F4 ... I'd email them and see what they think.

I know this only applies to those who wear a helmet with a shield that can be raised up and down. I have serious issues with bright lights and the sun and like you certain times of the year is really bad. what I have done is apply vinyl, like what decals are made of to the bottom of my shield of my helmet visor, this way I could raise the visor and use it like a sun visor in a car. it worked great for me. currently I have a good sun visor in my helmet so I didn't have to do it to this one but would do it again in a heartbeat if needed

I would guess the wind would beat the hell out of the film, plus the direct sunlight would cause it to fade and streak

I have modular helmets. For years I have applied two strips of black electrical tape along the upper portion of the face shield. I usually ride with the face shield cracked open. It can be adjusted to eliminate sun glare. I do have a drop-down tinted visor but don't use it. The tape works good for me..... Jim

I have done the very same thing with the electrical tape...works wonders.

Plus when living in west Texas I had bought a tinted F4 For the intense early/evening sun glare. Also used very dark face shields on all my helmets...while wearing sunglasses.

But now that I live in the hill country, due to an often cloudy-to-partly-cloudy sky I find all this to be too much and have had to make adjustments. Still have the F4..keeping it,,love it. Pricey but SO worth it.

I have never tried the tint film but I agree with others it might not hold up for very long, being out in the direct UV, heat, cold, moisture. If you try it let us know how it performed.
