Mom does it again.
Okay so Tuesday the 13th, Mom was playing with Annabelle the 120# Rotty Lab mix, her dog. She was playing tug-of-war with a rope toy and mom lost her grip for a second and lunged to get it back Annabelle accidentally clamped down on her hand and broke skin.
Mom quickly cleaned it up and bandaged it. She also wrapped gauze around her hand to "keep it from bending", but, turns out it was to keep me from seeing it.
Long story short, Friday it was a little "angry looking" and she decided to go to the ER while telling me she was going to Wally World. They cleaned it again and gave her some more antibiotics. Rewrapped it and sent her home.
This morning she tells me (because I'm not going anywhere) that she'd been to the ER again Friday and had to go back today because they said if it doesn't improve to come back today.
I demanded that she show me what was going on. If you are faint at heart, don't look at the next post. For the record, not as bad as my "shark bite".

Just got a call, Mom is being admitted for two days to get IV antibiotics and "cleaning out".
Looks like it’s infected I’ve had that a few times whenever I get a puncture Wound which happens quite often working Engraving tools And some times driving the tool into the bone and with dog 🐕 bites I would let it bleed out a little then clean it off and put Neosporin on it and bandage it lightly so it can Air out...But not being a doctor myself that don’t look too good😱Originally Posted by FupzzyWuzHe

Of course, not sure I'll be able to visit, since she's supposed to be in "self isolation" .... Still!
And the hits just keep on coming.
Just got a call, Mom is gonna have surgery to clean out the infection and whatever else they need to do. So she will be in the Hospital for three maybe 4 days.
That is a bad looking infection. I will be praying for strength and health for you both

Damm, I think I would have went to ER right away just to be safe, sorry for your Mom, hope everything turns out ok, I'm sure the bite didn't look like that at first, that is why I think I would have went to ER and checked out and maybe this wouldn't have happened.

Post Surgery
Supposedly what happened, she was going to be admitted for IV Antibiotics. The surgeon that did her knee was on duty and took a look, an hour later she had surgery to clean it all up.
Surgery went well. Needless to say, she was whipped when she got t her room. I got to see her and brought her the things she said she needed. I watched as the nurse got her all settled in and then the doc came in and gave us his take on how it went. Apparently, the one tooth, a canine had gone pretty deep as a puncture wound and that's were the issues were. It's supposedly all good now, but she will be in the hospital for 3-5 days.
Good news, she has a great view.
Bad news, she's gonna be one handed for a couple weeks.
Been there, done that. Had my wife's late mother with us for a year or so before my s/o said enough. Every time there was an issue, her mom would fight going to the Dr.Finally got her mom into assisted living. Best thing that could have happened. Prayers for your moms speedy recovery.

I think it’s good she’s in the hospital but I would work to get her out and into assisted living as soon as possible. Praying for good outcome.

LOL ... you obviously don't know mom ... She's very independent ... Went to see her today, and she's already "not" taking pain meds because she thinks if the Doc thinks she's not in pain, she'll be able to go home earlier. Shhhhh ... had a talk with the Doc outside her ear shot while she napped. I explained my theory and he just smiled, he was wise to her deception ... LOL. Other than that, she is doing okay.
