after reading post on this tire I decided to buy one. I got it today and started to look for an index mark for the valve stem ( Dunlops dot.) and didn't find one. Am I missing something?

Just mount it & install Dyna-Beads. Works just fine. O yeah, Avon calls for 41 in the front tire

Having that tire on my bike now with about 4K on it, watch the tire pressure. I run 38/39 no issues. If I run 41, I get a slight vibration thru the bars. It has been noted in other threads as well. Tire performs great.

hmmm, over 14k on mine & no vibration. 41 pressure. I guess whatever works. If it starts to cup,more air.

What amount of Dyna-Beads did you install? After two years and 20k, I have to replace mine. Starting stress cracks in treads from scrubbing it a lot.

I dont remember Pat. Whatever the website calls for. Got a good deal on it at ebay,but that was some time ago.

M Series Tires Sizes
MH – use 80 mm width			MR– use 120 mm width
MJ– use 90 mm width			MT– use 130 mm width
MM– use 100 mm width			MU– use 140 mm width
MN or MP– use 110 mm width			MV– use 150 mm width
These codes are typical for Harleys but can be for any tire. The codes do not go beyond 150mm in width. With these tires, the first number of the tire size is not the actual width, it is just a number. The M-code is what tells you the actual width.

10" diameter wheels (scooters)						1 oz
12" & Up diameter wheels (scooters)						2 oz
Dual Purpose / Off Road with Rim Locks
Front - 80 - 120 mm tire width						2 oz
Rear - 130 -230 mm width						3 oz
Rim Locks - add one ounce over what you normaly use for that size tire to accomodate the additional weight of the rim lock. Two rim locks opposite each other don't require any more Dyna Beads other than stated above, as they have a tendency to cancel each other out.

Thanks for all the grate info. I did see on U-tube an English speaking gent talking about a recall on av71s with cracks coming from the treads, he gave models #s and years made... Worth checking out.

If I remember correctly, the 71 was the old style & discontinued about 3 yrs ago.

my mistake. Avon cobra Chrome tire recall. 1 week ago was posted by Revelator Alf on U tube. Found it by searching Avon tire recall. Hope this might help someone.

Mine is the AV71 and yes I am starting to see cracks within the treads and it still looks like it can go another 10k after 20k already on it. Just not going to take a chance. Looks like 2oz of Dyna-Beads will do it!
