Forgive my lack of mechanical knowledge but can I change cams in 2020 TriGlide and leave air and pipes stock and still see some gains? Thnx

You could, BUT. Changing a cam can change timing, hold valves open or closed for duration etc. This changes how the engine breaths on intake and or exhaust. For the best results changing the air intake and exhaust will give the best results depending on how much better the cam allows the engine to breath and exhaust.

My 2017 107 is currently in the shop for a S&S 465 cam upgrade along with a TTS tuner,Fullsac Sportpipe,S&S premium lifters, the newest oil pump and a dyno tune.I installed the stage 1 air cleaner before i took it in,its all buttoned up just waiting for its turn on the dyno. Now power will be a added bonus but the main reason was to help in heat reduction because this is the hottest running bike i have ever owned.I will be adding a tank lift also and floor board extensions this winter so it will be spring before i can report on the heat reduction but once i get it back i will be doing a power comparison. As far as installing a cam in your 2020 to keep your warranty you will have to stay will Screaming Eagle components and their tune, but always check with your dealer to make sure.
As others have mentioned, you want to have a good foundation for the cam upgrade. (intake, exhaust, and after cam, a tune)
Here is a good video on the subject-
And here is one about the M8 and tuning-

My current direction after talking with friend at Harley, keep stock pipes, do screaming eagle air and SE fuel pack along with either 447 or 462 cams. He said the cams really wake up and already fast 114, keeping stock pipes because my wife does not loud . Also screaming eagle or any other slip ones don’t remove CAT so a waste of money for performance. My current direction subject to change!
I know you are asking about a 114, a buddy of mine has a 107 that he had h-d torque cam installed in. All he did was a h-d tuner & k&n air filter cartridge no mufflers & no s/e filter. He's happy with those improvements.
Been thinking of adding a cam to mine. Already have the decatted headpipe, cvo mufflers with Fullsac cores, PV, need to get a new license, so all I need is a cam kit and air cleaner really. Been taking a serious look at the wm8 22x, 22xe, cr480, maybe the tts cams. If I am going to make a change the better options are for aftermarket parts, rather than epa controlled stuff. More bang for the buck, better performance.
I got my '17 back from the shop on Saturday and went out for a 100 mile ride yesterday. I had a WM8-22x cam installed with new lifters and pushrods. The headpipe was decatted and replaced the stock mufflers with Rineharts. I installed a Screaming Eagle air cleaner. I am very happy with the results. Runs a lot better. Sounds like a real Harley now.
Depends on the dealer but most all dealers will not honor the warranty if you use anything other than Screaming Eagle cams and tuner.I just had S&S 465 cams put in my 17 along with a Fullsac Sportpipe head pipe and a TTS tuner and i am very happy with the results.went from 73 hp and 96 ft lbs torque to 90 hp and 107 ft lbs of torque.
sounds great, is your cam a screaming eagle ? I’m sticking to Harley for now. Also I assume your factory warranty is expired. Great to hear you are happy with the upgrades!
My air cleaner is the only Screaming Eagle part that I used. Cam is a Woods WM8-22x. My dealer stopped selling Harleys on Oct 1st so they are a lot more leeway in parts they can sell and use. My extended warranty ends in a month, so it isn't a concern going forward. Trike has 53k miles on it with the pistons and cylinders replaced in August at 48.5k miles. Kind of decided that this may be my last trike/motorcycle, so I want to do some fun things to it. New handlebars and a mechanical reverse are in the plans.
