Not sure if it's just towards me ... or people in general.
Recently a "friend of mine" was sent back home again due to Covid (working remotely). She was sent home last summer for several months and hated that she was using her personal phone for work.
Anyway, she wanted to get another line on her spectrum account and put another phone on it just for work. Since the only phone she had is the iPhone 8 max, I offered to let her use my old iPhone X for her work. She asked if I could set it up for her (She's always kind of used me as her IT guy, handy man, jack of all trades). Of course I said sure. She gave me her Apple ID and password so I could get it set up with the apps she needs to check into work.
Some of you probably know of this gal, I'm her dogs God father, or was. Anyway, I was setting up the phone Wednesday and it started dinging. Not sure how a phone dings without a SIM card, but, apparently it uses your iCloud email account to connect to your text messages and since it was connected to my WiFi it was getting texts (you learn something everyday).
So after finally figuring out the dinging, I realized she was texting one of her friends and telling her what a sap I am for always helping her out with all the little things she needs. Watching the dogs, recently installing a dog door for her, letting her use my old phone and setting it up for her, etc. I've always done stuff like that as a friend. (well that and I consider it service). Anyway, she rattled on about how she could get me to do anything she wanted. (Should be noted here, we dated a couple times 15-20 years ago, but, nothing came of it and never could).
Being called a sap didn't really bother me, I've been called worse. What really was the deal breaker was when she started to verbally attack Kira. Now I'll be the first to admit that Kira is a handful. She's a puppy and still into everything, but, she's never done anything bad at this gal's house. When I was putting the dog door in, I brought her with me and she played in the back yard. Anyway, this gal was telling her friend how ugly Kira is and what a pain in the a$$ she is. She then called her the Sh$t Kiara (she can't even spell her name). Attack me, fine, I can take it, but, my little girl, nope ... not happening.
I took a screen shot of the texts and sent it to the gal and asked her why she would say those things about someone who's always been there for her ... her response was simply, "I didn't say them to you!". I told her that now that I know how she really feels, I guess it's time to dissolve our friendship. So, I reset the iPhone X and put it back in the box.
So, where am I going with all this? I was just wondering if it's just me, or do all people get treated like this by people they are friends with. It just seems like every time I let anyone get close to me, they tend to kick me in the teeth. This has been my life's experience with every person I've let in, even my parents. Oh well ... life goes on.
Alan, sorry to hear that happened to you when all you thought you were doing was helping a friend in need. Some people have no appreciation for friendship and have no couth.
And by the way. Kira is the cutest Jack Russell I have seen in a while. The farrier that used to shoe our horses had a little Jack Russell. He was always a blast to have around. Fun, energetic little dogs!

There is just no figuring out some people. I am sad she used you and played you. Take peace in knowing you have always tried to do the right thing with Christian love, it is too bad this person turned out to have so much evil in her heart.
My moms pastors wife said people are no damn good. For the most part she is right. When we fall from grace it is harder for some to find their way back. I think you did the right thing here and questioned her. Let it go and move on, but pray she finds her way back.

I can say for fact that you are not the only one. In fact all you have to do is look at how many want free stuff. That's exactly what they are doing and are proud that they can get stuff rather than work, earn funds and buy that same stuff. I have extremely few real friends. My wife on the other hand thinks everyone is her friend. There is probably some place that's in between those 2 extremes but I'm not sure I could go there. I basically don't trust people not to stab me in the back. But you are definitely not alone.
The only reason some people are still alive is it's illegal to shoot them.

Sorry to hear of this experience. Be glad as disheartening as it is that you have now found out what this person is really like.
I find this is not an unusual experience anymore. Once burned twice shy as the old saying goes. When she has burned enough people that considered themselves to be her friends, maybe then she will change. You have done all you can do, walk away and don't look back.

This woman I know didn’t like my dog. Talked about him all the time. To me and anyone who would listen to her. Bragged to other people about how she could get me to do anything she wanted me to do and then criticized the way I did it. Finally I had enough!!! I gave the dog to a loving,caring family. I’m glad to report “Max” the dog is very happy. Still looking for a good home for my wife.

You are not alone,been thru similar situations myself thru out the years and it has harden my heart for sure.I have one person for sure maybe two that would come get me from jail without question and those are the people who are hard to find.So i will take care of those two.You can say what you want about me,but my wife,son and dogs are off limits.
