    Default So now, I am a trifle confused these days.......!!

    Hi, I am old, well retired anyway, led a fairly normal life thus far that has featured bikes since I was about thirteen. A manky old BSA Bantam then, a D1 model, now worth a modest fortune, which I happily dismantled by impact as I careened around field edges where I live, about as Far East as you can get in England.....

    Without being boring, I have been riding various bikes over the years of various types etc, some of which were the older sidecar outfits from the golden age of sidecars i.e 1950's 1960's. I favoured the big A10 BSA's mainly, with an assortment of chairs etc. I sold a 1980's Kawasaki KLR 650 last year because it did not get used much. Rebuilt the engine on the wide glide, with new barrels and pistons etc... Lots of mods to the bike as well, including a far better multi-plate clutch assembly than Harley make. Then I rode that about with my weird friends until lock-down happened, I got a trifle fed up with no place to go to without people snarling at us incomers to their areas etc... weird sort of population over here....

    To cut a short story to an abbreviated one, I nearly dropped the bike in my workshop/shed. It hurt like hell for a few days in my lumber region because I saved the bike..... I hunted around for an old outfit.... lots of money, mostly crap stuff for lots of the elusive, soooo, I thought, get a chassis somewhere, and make a chair the old original method, I have done this before but years back, and glue it to the Wide Glide. It is an 1982, so the frame/chassis fittings should all be compatible with Imperial sized fittings etc....

    I secured what I believe to be a 1960's Watsonian Chassis with a 19" spoked wheel. It is currently ongoing sand blasting and powder coating. I have to re-spoke though, plus tyre etc etc.... I have also to make a designer 5' high outfit storage shed/garage for it. This should enable me to get the bike out of the way, so that I can construct the 1930's/1940's style 'Launch Tourer' sidecar. I favour that design because of the battlecruiser styled WW1 bow on it. The type that sticks forward on the waterline...???

    I have a friend who has an early 1930's Harley with one of these chairs mounted on it. He has a load of fittings I can make use of, so that is handy. I plan on doing it all rather original to be honest. So, any pointers as to front fork spring adaptions, or maybe sprocket size differentials, or any information would be useful to me.

    I keep myself to myself usually, I am just feeling my way here, but will converse with anybody interested, so hi again, nice to be here.....
