Been waiting for week for the bearings for the rear axle plate change out, I ordered National Bearing( Federal Mogul) 208 FF .Got them today and they have a sticker on the box, MADE IN CHINA well CHIT! Are there any bearings still manufactured in the USA? At $80 for the pair I would pitch them in the trash for made in USA. Ok i'm done:(

It is getting harder to find American bearings Steve

Try SKF6208-C3, 1 of the biggest problems with sealed bearings is the piss poor grease and lack of enuff grease. You can gently pop off the seals and have a look inside and you will see what I am saying. Then go ahead and hand pack them with a quality grease. I have done this for years with very good results

I took your advice ,went out to the garage and very carefully removed the seal and packed it with some good grease replaced the seal, opened the box on the next bearing and ARGH they sent me one 208FF and one 208 the 208 has no seals %&%$,so back it goes.

Get the number off the bearings and have Napa cross them for you

Good Luck Steve and report your findings;) I do not trust any sealed bearings, I have seen to many prematurely fail. I had 1 on a 2003 Chevy truck fail 1 hour after I installed it, the problem was lack of grease. Since then if I have to use a sealed bearing on anything you know I will be checking the grease and probably repacking it by hand. IMO most of the imports use a silicone based type of grease that can never stand up to the loads and heat JMO

Good for you. I bet there was not much grease in that bearing not to mention what kind of grease was it;) When I hand pack a bearing I know 4 sure it is done right and I use the best grease I can find, Most often I use Lubriplate products tried and true

https://www.lubriplate.com/Products...EL-BEARING-LUBRICANT/WHEEL-BEARING-LUBRICANT/

I have never had a bearing failure using this grease in over 50 years

I got bearings from McMaster-Carr. Ordered online and had them by noon the next day. SKF bearings. Made in the USA.

McMaster-Carr is also a great place to get Made in the USA drill bits and taps. Necessary when you are working in anything other than balsa wood. (Chinese drill bits will work for that. )

Knees,

I just changed out the axle bearing plates on my 2016 TG. I ended up buying the HD bearings because they were at least made in South Korea, and not by the ChiComs. I feel your pain. Crap like you encountered just pisses me off that we (America) can't do better.

Oh, We can do better......But most people don't want to pay for better..How/Why do you think the Chinese put just about everyone out of business ..Sure some will pay more for just a pair of Bearings....But what if you need a hundred + pair for your product's, Will your customer be willing to pay the price....

Pogo said it best.....We have met the Enemy and He is Us.....
