Having a bad day thanks to the government

Today I got a credit card in the mail for the stimulus money. I don't do direct deposit from the IRS and last time I got a paper check which worked just fine. So, I call the phone number to activate the card and after listening to a bunch of dribble an automated voice says it doesn't recognize my phone number and hangs up on me. I have never done business with any of the companies associated with this credit card so I don't know how they would know me anyway.

I then looked for where I could get assistance. And the "customer service" number is the very same one as the activation number. I tried several times and each time I get hung up on. I tried looking on line for any help and everything refers me this same number. There is no email address provided only a street address. And they want 60 days to look into any questions. What a bunch of horse puckey.... Jim

When i got the stimulus ''Last Year'' it came in the form of a Debit Card...I just went to my bank and they deposited it all into my checking account.....

Mine was direct deposit just like my Social Security deposit. I haven't spent it yet and it is currently in the 'Slush Fund'.

Jim,

Go to the bank where you have your checking account. Sit down with one of their bankers and explain your situation. Take the card with you. This may help resolve your problem.

Thanks for the suggestions. What is weird is they do not ask for my phone number. I just get a recording that they don't recognize my number (and why should they and why should they care?). I went to the EIPCard.com site and created an account. Got all my information correct including email and phone number. It shows the money is there but will not let me transfer it. I am guessing that it cannot be transferred until the card is activated. I'm off to the bank tomorrow.......

Oh.....BTW I retired 16 years ago. And wait for this.......

My Wife and i got it [1200 total] last week....And the best part was the check Had President Donald Trump's name on it......

Direct deposit is the only way to go.

But then that means they know where to rob too.

So I keep minimum in that account.

I keep a minimum amount in all my accounts, cause a minimum amount is all I've got. thankfully with the problems I've got and the doctors I've got, I don't think I'll outlive my money.

I have SS Direct Deposit........But My Wife and Mine came in the mail from the Treasury as a check ....

I don't know here you got that, but does it state direct deposit information will be shared? Social Security does share income information and notify the IRS when a person dies.

This was info put out during the first round of stimulus checks, I like many others believed that the SS administration was cooperating with the powers that be to get retired folks their checks quickly.

I went to the bank today and got everything taken care of. For some unknown reason the card activation system would not recognize my phone. It does not have caller ID blocked or anything like that. I used the phone at the bank and got everything done. The folks at the bank ROCK...... Jim
