I remember when we lived in Temple Tx. back in 1985 and it snowed 5". After that we moved back to Chicago = I forgot how great it was to have snow for Christmas - and the rest of the winter for that matter.
Did I mention that I LOVE SNOW??
I ride all winter here if the roads are dry - doesn't matter what the temp is. Last Jan. 1st 5 friends and I rode my "Freeze Your Ass Off" ride and it was 28* and the roads had dried off.

I recall a couple of really really cold winters. Showing my age of course but I recall Christmas Eve in Memphis and the low that night was -13 degrees. YES that is 13 degrees below zero. Yikes!
And the first winter in our new house (1985 but don't recall the specific date) it got down to several degrees below zero and of course the water pipes where they were not diligent in applying insulation froze and when thawed we discovered that the copper line had split and our garage was flooded. Fun times, NOT!
I hate cold weather.
I have rode to work with the temps at 25 degrees in the mornings, doing 80 on the interstate. It's not bad if you dress right, but I try not to ride below 32 just for safety sake if it's wet.
The best riding season is the one that never ends.

Don't use salt as an excuse. Just say it's too cold for you. S100 makes a GREAT product for the white stuff. Spray it on all the metal in November and wash it off in April. Don't even have to buff if you don't want to - I don't. I've been using it for over 15 years and have had no rust or corrosion on any of my bikes and I ride every winter in the Chicago area.
So, if salt is the ONLY reason people won't ride in the winter - just get some S100 Corrosion Protectant. Don't buy the H-D crap, it doesn't work for shit - I learned that the hard way one year.
Back when I was young and "smart" I use to put my bike up for the winter. Then in 1988 when I wisened up and bought my first Harley, I asked myself why am I paying $10K (now $35K) for a bike and then storing it for 6 months every year? That's stupid. So I bought some heated gear (gloves at first) and ride all year and not be a bit cold. Besides I get a kick from the looks I get from drivers and restaurant owners.
I was born in Canada so these wimpy 30* temps are nothing.
In the meantime stay safe (wear a mask) and warm and I'll see you on the road in April.
