Just a week ago we were below freezing temps during the day and had near a foot of snow on the ground.
Today it is 75 degrees and we are under a Tornado watch!!!
Crazy!

Yep, have heard the same.
True that! We have our phones that will alert us. There is also a siren a couple of miles away that sounds whenever a tornado is near....we hear it pretty clearly.
For over 25 years we did not have anywhere to go that was particularly safe in a Tornado..ditches, bathtubs, etc. About 10 years ago we built a steel room, bolted to the slab in the house. We have spent some time in there over the last years. Probably will some more this year. Hopefully will not ever exit it to the outside.
Kevin
By reading this I take it you don't have a basement, that is a good place to go. Now as far as your steel room bolted to slab, better than nothing, but it won't stand up to a tornado IMHO, we have had tornados up here in Iowa and I can't believe what damage a simple tornado can do, some are worse than others, stay safe in your steel room if need be, me I would have built a underground room to go to, that way the tornado blows over it, a good tornado will be able to blow that steel room away, just my opinion, if you believe me I have some land for sale really cheap, LOL
All for now Trampas
Yep, you're correct. No basement. We thought about burying a container in a hillside. We know that would be better, but it would also require leaving the house and going out to it every time there is a warning...and that would normally be thru a torrential downpour.
When we saw these 1/4" thick steel rooms that are rated to withstand an F5, that is the route we decided to go. Hope we never get hit and find out.
Kevin
I'm embarrassed to admit it has been two weeks since I started my Trike. It has been several years since I have had to admit something as crazy as that this time of year!
We made a quick run out to Texas and back to pick up a new 5th wheel and the past couple of weeks have been BUSY. Today the DW and I decided we are riding and everything else can wait.
Good luck up there Kevin. You will be putting on suntan lotion before you know it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Can't figure out how to post a pic Kevin. We got lucky and sold the DP. Got a F350 dually with an 8' bed then drove out to Sweetwater (TX) and picked up a Cyclone 4006 Toy Hauler. With the price of diesel on the rise is could end up being good timing. My DP averaged around 6.5mpg and with less than 2,000 miles on the F350 it was getting over 8mpg towing already.
