With a shop manual it should not be a problem. I looked at the book for mine it seemed to be straightforward great time to up grade the forks as well

I installed the rake kit myself and it's not that hard. The biggest thing is removing the fairing. I have the shop manual but didn't want to disconnect the main wiring harness. I just removed the 3 small connectors that go to the handlebars then I rigged up a sling from the ceiling and floated the inner fairing off the bike. I was able to remove the triple trees and install the new ones.

One trick for installing the fork extensions was to chuck up the old lower tree in a vice and insert the fork tube and tighten it. This makes a great way to hold the forks while you install the extensions. Put some oil on the extension threads and screw then into the forks without the springs. This makes sure that the threads are good so you're not fighting them when the springs are in. I stripped everything down in one afternoon and put it back together the next afternoon. The kit does make it steer a lot easier and you're not fighting the steering dampener.

Johnny I put one on my 2013 and it is a cake walk if you just follow the instructions. Your skills are quite adequate. GO FOR IT and Randy's is a great choice.

No not really, the only thing you will have to rig up is a way to hold the fork tubes so that you can install the fork extensions. I took the old bottom triple tree and clamped the steering stem in the vice. You can then put the fork tube in it and tighten it down and use it to hold the tube while you remove the cap. Remember that there will be a lot of spring pressure so be ready for it. After you remove the cap pull the spring out and oil up the threads on the extension and screw it all the way into the forks.

This will make sure that the threads are good so you won't have any problems installing the extension with the springs installed. Next replace the springs and install the new extensions. It's better if you have someone to help you as you will be having to put down pressure on the extensions and screw them in at the same time. Having someone else apply the down pressure so you can concentrate on screwing in the caps without cross threading is a big help. Good luck and enjoy the new ride.

Make sure you have a 1 1/2 inch socket for torqueing the trees and the shock tube extensions. It helps to have someway of numbering the electrical connections when removing the inner fairing. I got a book of electrical numbering markers after I disconnected everything. Put it all back together and tested everything and and found out that I had forgotten to plug the headlight connector back in.

it is done took awhile to pull the fairing and wiring but once out of the way it was easy.
