Hi Bill,
As Jerry said, the rear tire has more tread than the front and lasts longer. Also, not sure if it is a different rubber compound, or if it is because it has a little larger footprint, but they are much grippier than a front tire. This translates into better traction, both in turning and stopping.
The improvement is really quite significant.
Here's a photo from yesterday after the first 150 miles or so, the tread is quite deep.
Yes, the TG is very dirty...but I remedied that yesterday afternoon.
Regarding your package. I looked up your order and tracking. We shipped it less than 2 hours after you ordered it, now it appears that USPS Priority has either lost it, misplaced it, or ????
Fortunately they are doing better than they were a couple of months ago, unfortunately they are still messing up on some packages, like they have on your package. It may still get there. We have seen some domestic packages get delivered 12-15 days after shipped.
We insure every package, so if you do not have it this week, we will send out another one.
Natalie or Jamie will be contacting you to find out if you need it in a hurry, or can wait for USPS another few days.
Thank you for your business, and we are sorry for this delay.
Kevin
What tire pressure are you guys running in your American Elite front tire?
What tire pressure are you all running in your Dunlop American Elite front tire for your Tri Glide?
Thanks Kevin, Natalie did call about an hour ago, explained the Memphis USPS debacle & is shipping a new order UPS, so should have that this week. If the other order shows up , I will call her & get it returned to you guys. I had a check delivered to my son 6 months after I mailed it, but it was postmarked 2 days just before he received it. Guess it was hiding in the post office. Anyway thanks . Still not sure I want to try rear on front. Will wait to see how yours works out.

That is good to hear that Natalie is taking care of you, and that you understand that the Post Office is having some difficult times.
I hope the rear tire reversed works out just as well as the previous rear tires reversed I've run on my other 2 Tri Glides.
Between one Michelin Commander II, another American Elite and the Avon (which I know is "designed" for a front) I have close to 100k miles on them.
But as some have pointed out, if there were an incident and the front tire was somehow involved, it could be construed that it was the fault of a "Rear Tire Mount Only" label on the front tire that was at fault.

What's the recommended air pressure to be used in a Dunlap American Elite mt90 16 designed to be run on the front tire of a Harley Davidson Tri Glide? If this question has been answered elsewhere I apologize for asking it again

I have been using the Harley brand by American Elite only because I didn't already have an American Elite on hand and can't tell or see a difference other than the Harley branding...

Here's a video we shot a week or so ago on a rear tire reversed on the front of a trike.

Out of curiosity, I asked my wife who is an insurance adjustor now for over 30 years, about the liability of putting a tire rated for rear use only on the front of 2 or 3 wheel motorcycle. She did some research. Most insurance companies will deny your claim if there is a failure of safety item that you knowingly and improperly installed and the failure of that safety item is found to be the cause of an accident ( example: a tire clearly designed and marked for rear use being installed on the front of a bike).
The result of having your claim denied will leave you responsible to pay for all property damages, hospital bill ,rehab, etc. out of your pocket Also depending on the type of insurance coverages and laws in your state you could be on the hook not only for yourself, but you could be liable for all cost incurred by anyone that might have been involved in the accident ( seeing how you will be found to be at fault), including property damages, Hospital bill etc. If someone involved in the accident for some reason were to sue you, such as wrongful death suit or for cost not covered by their insurance , you will be responsible paying for legal fees and any settlement that result form the suit if your clam has been denied.
Kevin as an agent representing DK Custom, by promoting ( in both print forums and by what could be interpreted as an instructional video on Youtube) the improper use of a purposely designed and clearly marked safety item, could find DK Customs being sued and also held financially responsible for damages.
Clearly what I wrote is a very extreme and unlikely result of using a purposely designed rear tire on the front of a trike. The odds of that tire failing are very slim, especially considering all of the uneventful miles that Keven at DK Custom as advertised that he has gotten using a rear tire in that manor. Everyone on this forum are adults and are fully capable of making their own decisions. I am not trying to tell ANYONE what decisions they should make for themselves or their companies and if those decisions are right or wrong.. Just thought I would give a little outside the box information.
My opinion is a rear tire reversed gives the tire the same construction as a front tire. The tread patterns vary so widely that certainly can't be an argument. If you placed it on with the rear tire Rotation like it was on the rear yes that's not smart and possibly way out there possibly you may have issues. I do not feel it deserves a second thought I'm running reversed. Let the people who fear the what if's deal in their world. Fred
